Only someone with a blog dedicated to sharing how much they know about Sasquatch can be so selfless and awesome all the time. Less speculative.

It's the "Kick Rocks" Thread. Glowing reviews don't make you wanna kick rocks. Not in an angry way at least.

The only exception is Burrito, who exclusively posted about Black Dice and weed for his first two months, but was somehow great at it. Hey meow, it was weed and Bjorrito and weed for the first 2 months, followed shortly by mushrooms, and then the Dice.

Alex. Aaaaaleeeeex. Get over it dude. ...it's the first line of the chorus of the most famous Blue October song. Figured it was pretty fitting.

Yeah... Not sure why I'm admitting this. Probably my favourite band when I was 17. I was also dating a 27 year old who I'm pretty sure was married now that I think about it. I made bad choices when I was 17.

Copying and pasting my first ever Yelp review of the sushi place I went to tonight. So much for treating myself out to a nice dinner.
"Let's start with the good part of this review: the food was ok. Not great-- and definitely overpriced for what it was-- but overall, it was decent. I ordered a miso soup that was quite small for the $1.50 price tag -- drop it down to a buck and it would've been the highlight of the meal. I only ordered sushi for my meal, a chopped scallop roll and a negi-hama roll (which both turned out to be inside-out rolls) and 2 pieces salmon toro. There was way too much rice used on the rolls but otherwise they were fine. The salmon toro was disappointing as I'm certain I was served just plain salmon instead, unless it was the worst salmon toro I've ever had. I also tried one of their special rolls, the volcano roll, which was described as a motoyaki sushi roll on the menu. I liked the taste but it was extremely awkward to eat. It came as 2 medallion-sized maki roll pieces with chopped scallop and spicy tuna, topped with the motoyaki sauce that was broiled. A little too hot and way too big to eat as one bite, so it just ended up crumbling all over the plate. And again, it was completely overpriced at $6.50 and only being 2 pieces; serving it as 4 smaller pieces would've been much easier to eat and not make me notice the overpricing so much.
Now, let's get to the real point of this review and why I don't recommend anyone ever bothering to try this restaurant: this was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I decided to try this place because of a groupon coupon that was $15 for $30 worth of food. Before buying, I carefully read the fine print of the coupon and it clearly stated one coupon per person, per visit, per table, and those were the only restrictions. Since I was going to head out to dinner alone, I took a look at the menu online first to see if it would even be possible for me to spend that much on my own and, after seeing the prices and seeing a half dozen oysters for $15, I figured I could do it.
As soon as I got to the restaurant I informed the waitress of the coupon and right away she said she needed to check the rules because she was sure it was a coupon for two people. We had to pull up the website on their computer behind the bar since the version on my ipad didn't have the rules on it (just open on the app and had no wifi for my ipad to browse the rules). She found an extremely old groupon that, indeed, was for two and I explained what I had purchased was one of the now deals that were different than the one she was thinking of and we even pulled up the version of the groupon I was talking about. She clearly saw and agreed that there was no stated restriction that two people had to use that coupon. At this point the conversation should have been over, however she said she still had to go check with her manager in the back to see if I could use it. After several minutes, she returned to say her manager wanted me to know I could call groupon to get my money back. I was shocked. We had just established that nowhere did it state the coupon could only be used by two people and, in this scenario, I believe most businesses (or at least mine) would honour the coupon in the interest of good customer service. Apparently not this place.
Well, at this point I was quite frustrated and my growing hunger was not helping matters (over 10 minutes had already passed), so I said I would just order $15 worth of food and that I was very upset with her manager's decision. She offered to have him come out to speak to me which I accepted, but somehow-- despite there only being 2 other tables seated-- he was far too busy in the back cooking to ever make it out. In fact, she offered to get him on 3 separate occasions and each time she returned apologizing that he couldn't come out. And I wasn't the only one she was continuously apologizing to; as I sat there eating my meal, I could hear her repeatedly say "sorry" to the tables behind me because she brought out the wrong dish or their food took so long.
Once I finished my meal (which took less than 20 minutes), the waitress brought me my bill and told me normally she wasn't allowed to give discounts but in this case she would make an exception for me. She had taken an additional 20% off (after removing $15). The kicker though: a large sign board right in front of my table said today's special was 20% off all sushi rolls and nigiri -- not really such a special "exception" was it?
The competition among sushi places in this city can be pretty stiff. I mean, throw a stone down any block and you'll hit 4 sushi restaurants on the way, so there's plenty of choice out there for us diners. I've never once gone to a Japanese restaurant expecting great service, but they have to have at least good food or pricing since I can just as easily go next door. With this kind of management, service and pricing, I will be surprised if this place lasts much longer."

Sound good? Ok then. Have a good one. I don't want to get in the middle of this argument, but I have to say, this made me laugh loudly in a quiet library.

I wound up with a torn-open blister on my big toe after playing beach volleyball earlier this evening. So while kicking rocks is actually the last thing I want to do, it bums me out. Probably won't be able to go hiking this weekend.

How did that happen? Were you wearing shoes during beach volleyball?

How did that happen? Were you wearing shoes during beach volleyball? Was playing barefoot, but the sand was hot, which probably contributed to the blisters.

Plus if you keep posting you're totally gonna stop being able to use the key associated with that finger and it's gonna get hilarious!

That's already happened; I'm basically doing all the right hand keys with just my index finger.
