Fuck, and Toad the Wet Sprocket had at least THREE great albums.
Did we live through different 90's?

As far as Toad the Wet Sprocket goes, Fear, Dulcinea and Coil are all A+ solid record.
And Spacehog's second album, The Chinese Album, is incredible. It has this weird middle ground between 70's glam rock and, like, Faith No More.

Fucking Spacehog. I love Resident Alien. "Ship Wrecked" is such a beautiful ballad. What ever happened to them.

Since theres still 5 spots I'll just throw this one out there to stack the punk rock catagory. I know they arent very well known, but... The Bouncing Souls?

I would throw don caballero on there as a groundbreaking, influential band with 4 great albums released in the 90's, but I doubt they'd make it out of the first group. Unless they were in the pitchfork group, maybe.

Hey Stampy I didn't mean to twist your arm. There's no need to add Spacehog because they're just taking up space for a band that might potentially win.
I would say that Toad the Wet Sprocket deserves a fair shake, but me and blacksmile and probs stormy are the only cats that'll vote for Spacehog. Anyway, if we ever do a Best SONG of the 90's cup, Spacehog is going to dominate.

Unless they were in the pitchfork group, maybe. As long as we're throwing out bands that only one of us has ever heard of, then you should include The Philistines Jr. Even if I'd continue voting for them in every round even after they were eliminated.

I think we need a novelty/one hit wonder category. It IS the 90's we're talking about, after all, right?
CHUMBAWAMBA 4 NON-BLONDES DEEP BLUE SOMETHING KING MISSILE etc.

Under no circumstances am I insulting Spacehog, because I am a fan of their stuff, but I could see them in (and dominating) the Novelty/One Hit Wonder category. "In the Meantime" was a HUGE hit and really the only one they ever had in North America.
Just saying it would be a good way for them to make the cup without " taking up space for a band that might potentially win".

Guns N Roses was the biggest band in the world in the early 90s.
If Blink 182 was what the kids were listening to in the 90s, Sublime was what the college kids were listening to, and I mean all of them. There isn't a person who went to college in the 90s who doesn't have half of Sublime's songs memorized.
For alternative music, Sonic Youth was huge in the 90s. Wait, I meant Ween, Ween was huge in the 90s.
Slayer was bigger than Pantera and Metallica in the 90s.
Pennywise was huge in the punk scene, and put out their first five albums in that decade.
Flaming Lips put out Zaireeka.
You said you wanted to put Toadies in there. You still can.
If Radiohead qualifies, so could Wilco. Three albums each, two solid albums and one classic each.
Faith No More? Pavement?
Just suggestions, I think you've done a fine job.

Even though GnR may have been huge, Use Your Illusion and The Spaghetti Incident were average at best. Appetite was their only great album and it came out in 1987. Everything else in that quote, yes.
