The drive in and out is brutal for highway patrol setting up speed traps. Best to follow someone pushing a little over the speed limit and let them take the heat.

I've never once seen any state patrol on the drive out. Not coming from the west on I90 at least.

Thursday. One of the best parties of the weekend is opening night. The morning of the first day is pretty awesome as well because everyone is still on a high from just being there and are getting primed up to go in.

Ok, Nice info. How long is the wait to get in the campground? Were debating on how early to arrive.

I think it will be hard to gauge. The last few years we've shown up early evening Friday and waited anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. I think as the night goes on that number steadily increases; it took my friends well over an hour when they arrived at 11 last year.
That said, the majority of people with full weekend passes would show up the night before because the gates were in the early afternoon the next day. With a later start on Friday, the crowds may be more evenly balanced between Thursday night and Friday morning.

No one knows what the wait will be like since they are apparently opening the camp ground at 5 on thursday and they have never opened it that late before. I am still convinced that if there is a 500 car lineup at 4 they will start letting people in.
I plan on leaving Van around noon and the drive is supposed to be ~5 hours but the memorial day weekend traffic always makes it something around 9. But this is a thursday, so I am thinking traffic might not be as bad.
Long story short, nobody knows. I will tell you this, the earlier you get there the more likely it is you will be put on the outside areas of the campground.

Kegs of beer, instead of a bunch bottles and cans. I figure it would be easier to clean up.
Everyone is welcomed to a beer on me, It's a party!!

If you show up Thursday evening I don't anticipate the wait being that long. A lot of people have to work on Thursday so even if they are coming from Seattle they should arrive around 7:00. I anticipate a lot of people packing up and showing up either late that nite or Friday around 2 or 3. The longest waits should be between 9 and midnight Thursday, and 1-4 on Friday. This is from experience of showing up early and watching the streams of cars coming into the campground.
