You should see the shit storm over at /mu/ over the death grips news. Something has got to displace the wwaiu threads for once in popularity.

Awesome, awesome, totally awesome news of awesomeness. There is a new supergroup, and they are called Big Walnuts Yonder. As if the name doesn't sell it, here is the personnel: Nels Cline (Wilco): guitar Nick Reinhart (Tera Melos): guitar Greg Saunier (Deerhoof): drums Mike Watt (Minutemen): bass They have recorded a 10-song album together that will be released via Sargent House and that is going to be some cool shit. www.facebook.com/bigwalnutsyonder

Holy shit. If you're an Animal Collective fan, I've got the most ridiculous rabbit hole to share with you. Spin essentially created an encyclopedia of the band's influences. This is going to make my sleuthing missions to identify the thousands of mangled samples in their jams so much easier/more fun. Remember that "Rub a Dub Dub" song Burrito was obsessed with a few months ago by The Equals? It's sampled in Panda Bear's track "Bros". Panda wrote that song just after he told the band he was moving to Portugal, where his lady (now wife) lives. The band was pretty pissed at him and weren't sure if they were going to have to break up or what. The song is somewhat of an apology for bailing on them (he broke that coveted Bros before Hoes code) but as in all AnCo jams, the lyrics aren't super literal. The part of the "Rub a Dub Dub" song Panda sampled is just a riff, but if you listen to the original song you will notice that the corresponding lyrics of the sampled riff are "Got to see my baby". Essentially it's like a hidden little message all throughout the song, looping over and over again "Got to see my baby, got to see my baby, got to see my baby". I think that shit is super cool. The encyclopedia should help uncover more mysteries, let me know if you stumble across anything intriguing. m.spin.com/articles/the-animal-collective-centipedia/

What kind of billing and reception would TV On the Radio and Interpol get at Sasquatch in 2015?

What kind of billing and reception would TV On the Radio and Interpol get at Sasquatch in 2015? Interpol could maybe sub, TV on the Radio sub-sub? I would love to see either, honestly. Wasn't huge on El Pintor but I still like Interpol as a band. I love TV on the Radio and I am really excited for the new LP so seeing them again would be wonderful. Both seem like decent early bets for 2015.

Both seem like decent early bets for 2015. TV On the Radio sub-sub'ed in 2009 (although their set was just before the dual headliners of Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction) and have only played Seattle once - I think - since then at CHBP 2011. I don't think Seeds will vault up TVOtR quite as high as Trouble Will Find Me did for the National, but I would expect them to at least sub-headline Sasquatch. Interpol haven't played Sasquatch since 2007 and have only played Seattle once in the last 7 years, although they're playing the Paramount Theatre tonight. I think they could subheadline too. Is it too early for a rampant speculation thread? It started 8/8 last year...
