Hey all! I had an amazing time at sasquatch--but there's a topic I've been curious to get other people's thoughts on:
How easy or difficult do you think it is to hook up with someone at Sasquatch?
Many of the people I went with were in relationships. While I met tons of people over the course of the weekend(many attractive ladies in the mix), everyone is doing their own thing and moving from stage to stage, meeting people and then usually moving on. So for a dude who wouldn't have minded meeting a woman over the course of the weekend, it ended up being a bit frustrating. Can anyone relate to my experience? Maybe that's just me?
I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts either way.
Thanks!

This isn't an issue that comes up in everyday life. My experience at music festivals, though, has been that people are all very open and friendly and are therefore difficult to read. Thoughts?

As a bro who walked by me was heard saying- "You have to try *not* to get laid at sasquatch"
Granted- those bros are greasy dirtbags who spend all of their time grinding on random drunk/high girls until it works- my experience is that because people are in groups *many* girls are of ambiguous relationship status, which means that unless you're straight up you probably won't find out if they are interested.
Also, with so many people being messed up I generally avoid trying to hook up with anyone- I don't like the idea of being anyone's festival regret.
I did for the first time this year get me an official festival girlfriend, although we hang out for most of the festival before anything at all happen. Better luck next year? You shouldn't be there looking to get laid anyways- have your experiences, make friends, and be happy with what happens
If you go there trolling for sex you become just another jerk.

Thanks man, I appreciate your post. I have never been the type of dude to go rub on some random chick--and i genuinely went into the festival with little expectations. But when you're camping with a bunch of people who are all hanging out with their significant others all day, it's hard not to start thinking about the ladies.

And don't let anyone give you too much of a hard time for that. As long as it isn't the focus of your entire festival you're not doing anything wrong.
Sawbuck- I get the impression that probably happens a lot- I know it has happened to me int he other direction and I'm no prize. HA

I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts either way. Thanks! Although it's a taboo topic, I believe it's worth discussing. For many single men it's constantly brought up so I feel like it's worthy of a serious answer. Unfortunately for single men, a stigma exists that an awesome experience in a co-ed environment must include hooking up with a girl. This is particularly prevalent at Sasquatch, as it is a laissez-faire, free experience with a lot of attractive people around. However, Although I have always found Sasquatch! to be open, interactive, mind-expanding, incredbly fun, intimate and even sexy, what it isn't is Hedonistic. There are are lots of reasons for this: - it's dirty - it's busy - You are camping in a tent in the darkness - It's really cold at night - Many people are on substances that inhibit sexual drive - at the end of the night (when traditional hooking up happens) you are absolutely wiped of energy and could think of no better thing than to sleep in comfort, not awkardly next to some near-stranger. As you can see, if you are trying to hook up, you have got a lot going against you. I have seen it happen, but don't expect it to; you will likely be disappointed (believe me, I've been there). Even if it does happen, more than likely it will be awkward and less than satisfactory. To relate a personal experience, this year a friend of mine and I came to the festival, just the two of us. So we were looking to make friends to share the experience. To our luck, we parked next to a couple of groups of really super cool people. We made friends easily, and ended up spending the majority of our time with 2 awesomely cool, smart and attractive women from Vancouver. Shared a ton of laughs, got drunk, got high, danced ,etc...and had a truly meaningful experience. Never once acted on any sexual impulses. My friend Cowboy Dan that I travelled with, whom this was at his first festival experience, said this weekend may have been the best of his life so far. My advice for Sasquatch next year; don't worry about the single male stigma. Meet people, dance, stay positive and you'll have a good time. Leave the hooking up for another weekend.

I have friends who have gotten laid before (once in the middle of the field on the last night for fucks sake) but none of them are the type of people to go looking for it, it just happens. Whatever you do dont get it in your head that it is going to happen, because then if it doesnt you will be choked. I know you said you had little expectations, so try to keep it that way for next year and who knows, maybe it will work itself out. Like pretty much everything at sasquatch, if you dont plan for it, it has a much better chance of happening.

I'm with Hectic on this one. If you really, really try hard enough then just about anyone can get laid at a festival...but honestly? If you try really, really hard you can get laid just about anywhere. Why waste your time at sasquatch solely focusing on it?
I guess for me, I'm not going to a festival to hook up with girls. Sure these things happen, but I'm not running around the dance tent try to ram my junk into some loaded girls asses.
I don't know if I buy any "single male stigma" either. I spent a lot of time by myself this weekend and had no problem meeting all kinds of wicked new people. I guess I wasn't beginning my interactions with people with the focus on getting laid; I was just interested in meeting them and sharing in the amazing experience. I made some really awesome connections with people at festivals and If things happened from there, then so be it.
ha ha ha ha, I'm trying to put this tactfully as possible, but I don't think its really working...
