Not sure if this is the place to ask but I'll give it a try,
The Champions League final is on May 28th this year (Thanks a bunch Platini!) and I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere it would be shown near Sasquatch - or alternatively if there is a wifi zone etc that I could hook up to to stream the game.
Thanks VS

There is nothing "near Sasquatch". It's on the edge of a cliff in the middle of the desert. You'll be lucky to get cell phone reception while you're there. You're probably going to have to choose one or the other.

I was hoping this thread was about some variation of the Wizard's Council. Turns out it is about some Canadian sporting event. LAME.[/b]

I tethered my data connection from my cell phone at work to watch the hockey game last night and it worked fine. If you're Canadian I wouldn't suggest this due to roaming rates, but Americans may be able to pull this off. It does use a lot of data though. I used about 1.5 gigs in 4.5 hours last night...

DVR it and forget about anything outside the gorge. That is my recommendation.

I think DVR is the way I am going. No way you can go the weekend without having a Canucks score spoiled, but with a soccer game, even one that big, you should be alright.

LAME but thanks for your help non the less Just wondering if anyone knows any sports bars in the nearest towns (ie. an hour or 2 drive)... I don't have the patience for DVR I never looked last year but I'm guessing there's no wi-fi zone or anything? Tethered cell connection will cost me a fortune. Thanks

I guess what I meant is that it is a sporting event that only lame Canadians care about.

Soccer, I'm guessing? Yeah it'll be a frosty, pink-hued day in the darkest pit of hell before Americans give a shit about soccer.

The sky is slowly turning pink, just fyi. I wouldn't expect you to be aware of that though.

Never gonna happen. Soccer is as popular in the states as it is ever going to be.

You are so misinformed that it's sad.

I guess what I meant is that it is a sporting event that only lame Canadians care about. First of all I'm not Canadian, I'm Irish, and secondly Canadians probably care less about soccer than Americans do. Nice to see that welcoming American spirit though! I guess that's why I chose to move to Canada rather than America! Anyway, I've found a place in Ellensburg that will show it. Bit of a road trip that morning! But if anyone knows somewhere closer I'm all ears!!

I thought you'd be a bit more open minded than that HG. Soccer is slowly gaining popularity in the US and it is the most popular sport in the world by a hell of a long shot.
Maybe you dont get it (personally I watch the world cup and other big games, but its not my favourite) but believe it or not the sport has more fans in the world than any other one.
I for one will never understand how 60000+ people will stand in freezing temeratures to watch a football game, but Green Bay still sells out every game.

Damn that is a long haul to watch a game, kudos on having that kind of dedication. Better make sure they will let you back into camping. I have heard VIP camping gets in and out, but I dont think you can get back into regular camping once you leave (though it may be different with the whole wristband thing this year).

Just wondering if anyone knows any sports bars in the nearest towns (ie. an hour or 2 drive)... I don't have the patience for DVR Thanks i'm as big a soccer fan as you'll ever meet. but would driving two hours to and from a pub or starbucks (4 hours total) just to watch Barcelona beat up on Manchester United for 90 minutes really worth it? That's a potential 4 hours worth of driving... just for the champions league final. as much as i would enjoy watching Utd take a beating - it still seems a little impractical. it's not like it's the final of the World Cup... or the European Cup. ultimately you're going to miss out on like 4 or 5 bands ... i don't get it. but....let's say you stay at the Gorge --- and not waste your time/energy/gas on a Champions League final road trip. You'd still be able to at least check the live score/updates straight from the event... albeit with a shitty connection. that's better than nothing. right?

Nice to see that welcoming American spirit though! I guess that's why I chose to move to Canada rather than America! One American does not all Americans make. Just like everywhere else. That is not a very nice attitude.

It's tough that's true and esp seen as I'm a United fan and I will no doubt be going to watch them get handed their asses again but what the hell, it's been building up to this point all season and I'd really hate to miss it.
We're sticking a car in the parking lot, I assume you can come and go as you please with that? Our other 2 cars we'll leave at the camp site.
1hr each way too.... game's at 12, be back for 3 when the good bands kick off - hopefully celebrating United's 4th European cup!
