I have a laptop with a CD tray but, for some reason, no CD driver - that I've been trying to fix too, because I told Know that I'd make him a Residents CD as an overview of some of the material they are playing on the current tour and I haven't even been able to do that (sorry Gunther; I didn't forget, swear I'm trying to work it out). I know your library is being held hostage. I had planned on spending a lot of time listening to the Residents before the show, but it kind of snuck up on me. Coachella/Sasquatch has hijacked my listenings the last two months. This might be the first time I've used "hostage" and "hijacked" in the same paragraph. Sorry to be a poor sport, but I've never made a mix CD. My brain is not capable of grasping the concept. I'm an album fan, 99.9% of the time I'm listening to music, it is an album straight through. Pulling out my favorite songs, and surrounding them with different songs does not compute.

Aw, that's too bad. How bout I make you one and hand deliver it in a couple weeks? Does that sound like something you might be interested in?

I was just telling the Facebutt chat window that I like you better than most of my friends in town; this is the reason why. Actually the reason why is that all my friends are in their early- to mid-twenties. Which is precisely why they have no respect for the Album as Art Form.

Hey- I am in my mid twenties and I have much respect for the Album as Art Form. But I also respect the care and crafting that one can put into a mix. Its something I find to be very fun, and if you take the time to assemble it correctly, not just picking your favorite songs but THE ONES THAT FIT TOGETHER, it can be almost like listening to an album.

There are exceptions to the rule. I just don't know many of them personally.
And I am an old hand at making mix tapes. I know it is an art form unto itself.

Well, if it works out alright this time, you'll probably get to try your hand at it multiple times.

This is going to sound mean, but hey, I tend to speak my mind, and I can be an ass. I don't know anything about your taste in music. You just got here, and rarely talk music. I can force myself to listen to a mix tape, but it would ideally be a mix by someone who I respect their taste in music. I appreciate the offer though.

Ha, totally understand. I think I have talked about music a fair amount actually, just typically not Sasquatch related, I would say- owing to my total lack of knowledge about most of the line up. Perhaps this indicates to you that our music tastes don't run concurrently.

A couple of things. First, I like the idea of being paired up with one or two people so that my address is not floating around. It's not that I don't trust you, it's just how I am.
Second, please put a "C" beside my name as I am in Canada.
Third, making mixtapes is a definite art form. I will listen to song multiple times before deciding where it belongs on the CD. Once the mix is complete I almost spend more time listening to the mix than I did picking songs, to ensure that it flows well, sounds good and makes some sense, and rarely do I follow a theme. I go for the hodgepodge approach.
Finally, great to see how many people want to participate. I figured this would be a success and I can't wait to hear peoples mixes! Too bad HG is out. I would have loved one of his.
Sorry to be a rambler but there were a few points I wanted to hit on.

No more long windedness (word?) from me. We look a little outnumbered.

Perhaps this indicates to you that our music tastes don't run concurrently. I think it would be tough for someone to have a taste in music that doesn't run concurrently with mine, except the girl I once dated who only listened to Top 40 and country, which is basically the only type of music I avoid. And sure, you talk music, you talk more about TV and food. I still read all the posts on this board. The only thing I know about your taste in music is that you are a Tera Melos superfan, or their friend or brother or manager. There are people who have been here years who I don't know much about their taste in music. The point was, I'm not a mix tape fan, and there are only a couple people on the board I would devote time to listening to their mixtape.

I know you're generalizing here somewhat, but I gave a pretty varied list of favorite artists in the lurkers thread as one of my first posts.

HG isn't out. I'm in, as long as we acknowledge there are considerations for time on my end. I'll just make a mix CD and send it to anyone who wants one.

I love making mixes... but it's a very time consuming process for me, as every song I choose has a very specific reasoning for being on the mix. ^I obsess over my mixes almost as much as this guy^
