Sometimes I don't pay attention so what thread I'm in and I think that everyone is talking about a band or band member I haven't heard of, but then I realize where I am.

Go GIANTS! By the way, what are the A's fans opinions on the Giants? Is it a hate relationship? Do you pick one side and stick with it or do most people enjoy both?

I think we all read this thread and this is the only time that it paid off. I was going to put a 4th quote on that 'book cover' saying something like 'Hey guys, he's not THAT bad' weenie, but I never thought you would actually see it in the baseball thread.

Pea hates baseball and Wonk hates soccer. Those are my two favorites.

Go GIANTS! By the way, what are the A's fans opinions on the Giants? Is it a hate relationship? Do you pick one side and stick with it or do most people enjoy both? First, I will say there is a very bitter territorial rights dispute between the A's and Gnats right now. The A's are the only franchise in baseball who don't have their own stadium, and the Gnats are to blame. San Jose wants the A's to move there, the A's want to move there, but the Gnats own the territorial right to San Jose. It's really strange, because Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York have no such territorial rights, yet each have two teams. Sure the north siders in Chicago root for the Cubs, and the south siders root for the White Sox, but the White Sox could build a stadium right next to Wrigley Field, because the Cubs don't own those territorial rights. No one does. Add the rumors that the A's gave San Jose to the Gnats 30 years ago just so they could be competitive, and it's not obscure to wonder why the Gnats won't give the rights back, so the A's can be competitive. Second, I hate the east coast bias. You all go to sleep at 9pm, and miss everything that happens on the west coast. Fuck you. Third, I was at an A's v. Gnats series a couple years ago, and the die hard fans hate each other. I saw nearly 14 fights. Gnats fans are cheese and wine, while A's fans are cheese fries and jager bombs. Fourth, The AL and NL are so different, casual fans root for both teams, because they live in the bay area. Fifth, the Tigers were a nearly impossible team to beat in a five game series when Verlander pitches twide. The A's were unlucky in their draw, and the Gnats have a much better chance to win the series (I'm starting game 1 now, so this is my thought before Verlander gets blown up).

That makes sense to why the A's would have hostility towards the Giants. Would the A's fans want their team to move to San Jose? I know it would mean a better stadium that is there own. If the Mariners were moving to Tacoma I would not be happy about that. Would they be the San Jose A's or keep the Oakland tag?
I want the Giants to win the series but I hope that it is a competitive series.

If the Mariners were moving to Tacoma I would not be happy about that. Would they be the San Jose A's or keep the Oakland tag? The Oakland residents don't want the A's to move. The Seattle/Tacoma thing is pretty accurate, because San Jose is just down the street, but it adds a much larger commute, and the Oakland Piece Of Shit Coliseum is right on the BART line. They've been trying to build a stadium in Oakland for over a decade, and the owner is finally like, "well, shit guys, we need a stadium somewhere." I'm not from the bay area, so I approve of the move. My homies live in San Jose anyway. They would definitely change the name to the San Jose A's. I've already decided their signature "LET'S GO OAK-LAND" chant can easily be converted to "GO SAN JO-SE." Still four syllables. You know me, always a conspiracy theorist (or maybe just smarter than the average fan), but I believe the only reason the Giants won't give up San Jose is because they want Bud Selig to force them to give up San Jose, and MLB to pay them a nice compensation. They should be able to pay a good portion of Cain's contract with a settlement. What I meant by the east coast bias comment last night is that I always root for the west coast, so it's tough rooting for the Tigers. I actually really like the Gnats players, it's the situation I hate. I've spent many years rooting for Scutaro and Zito while with the A's, and I grew very fond of the dudes on my fantasy team this season, Romo, Posey, and Bumgarner.

Very interesting stuff going on down there behind the scenes. I guess it isn't too behind the scenes but still.
Thanks for explaining that stuff to me. By the way, I am so happy for Zito. I know he is making bank but it is rad that he is doing so well right now considering he was left off of the playoff roster in 2010.

Go GIANTS! By the way, what are the A's fans opinions on the Giants? Is it a hate relationship? Do you pick one side and stick with it or do most people enjoy both? Let me sum this up. FUCK THE GNATS!!!Die hard A's fans hate gnats fans becasue there are so many casual gnats fans around the bay area that don't know shit about baseball. It seems that a good chunk of gnats fans are in it for the social aspect of attending the game at their plush stadium as opposed to actually going because they care about the game itself. This is annoying. Gnats fans also constantly questioning how someone can like the A's. "You're an A's fan? Why?" "Really? You like the A's?" "How can you like the A's?" Hearing that type of shit gets old. Also, as wonk pointed out the stadium issue is really annoying. As a diehard A's fan I want what is best for the franchise (a move to San Jose). The move is being prevented by the Gnats ownership. The killer is that the only reason the Gnats have a full claim to Santa Clara County is because the A's gave it to them in an effort to ensure they didn't become the Tampa Bay Gnats. Once the team decided not to construct a stadium in Santa Clara and built their lovely ballpark in SF, the rights should have been reverted back to allow both teams access to teh Santa Clara market. Gnats ownership is being a little bithc and for that I hate them more than I already did. So, once again... FUCK THE GNATS!!!

haha nice. I like the Giants but from afar obviously. The only reason that I even have any emotion towards them is because I got to go to one of their games at Candlestick when I was in grade school and it was the coolest thing ever. But that shit would piss me off (especially the questions from the fans about how you can like the team you are a die hard fan of). So basically, I have this image of the casual Giants fans as the South Park SF smug smelling farts type of thing.
