Why is that worse?

It's not like "This portrait of Bono is worse than what I'm planning" is an argument for any tattoo ever.

Besides, why is it worse? All things considered -- that tattoo is fairly well executed. I could pull up dozens of terrible portrait tattoos in a matter of seconds thanks to Google. Honest question, Switch, why do you think that one's worse? Because it's Bono and not Oberst? Because it's a realistic portrait and not stylized lines and shit? Because Bono looks douchey in that picture and Oberst looks, uh, somehow non-douchey in your eyes?
What is it? Why that picture? Why that example?

Woah, calm down. I think it is actually a great tattoo in terms of execution and artistic ability. I'm just not a fan of Bono. It was more of a joke than anything. I don't think that my tattoo will be better than anyone elses. It will mean something to me just like the Bono tattoo obviously means a lot to whoever owns it. I posted my tattoo idea because I like the artwork and I was excited about it. I hate having to defend myself all the time. I know you all hate Conor Oberst, you don't have to keep telling me that, but this will mean something to me and fuck why can't you just be happy for me. I need a beer.

Oh my god dude relax. What did you think we were going to say? Tattooing a face on you is a classically bad idea, you were going to get shit for that anyway. Everyone here thinks Conor Oberst is a fuckhead, and an ugly fuckhead to boot. Of course we're going to jump on you for it. If you want someone to tell you what an awesome idea it is to get a big fucking tattoo of WKD's little bitch face you're definitely going to have to go find a Bright Eyes forum.

I'm going to get a tattoo of my face on my face, and my face tattoo will have a tattoo of my face.

This is largely unrelated to our feelings about Conor Oberst, despite what HG said above. You could be saying, "Hey guys I'm gonna get a portrait of Isaac Brock on my calf," and I'd be responding with the same scorn. I have a general policy of "Tattoo and let tattoo," but some ideas demand interference. Get it if you want, hurray, etc., but don't be surprised when you look at the mirror in five years and fall over because the douche chills were so powerful that your legs collapsed.

Call me square, but I usually find that no tattoo is better than any tattoo, at least in terms of aesthetic appeal. I realize there is a large cultural, social and psychological appeal to it that perhaps outweighs the potential for stereotyping, poor quality, and pain, however I personally don't see it benefitting in the long run. In fact, I see many people using choice-supportive bias when ascribing their feelings towards their tattoos far later in life; and others whom absolutely regret it.
There are a ton of other artistic avenues to express your beliefs and passions.
Edit; So JWW, those are my feelings on you getting a Conor Oberst tattoo, or you either, Switch (sorry JWW, I guess you could tattoo WKD on your arm as well.)
Just my opinon, however.

Switch, my unsolicited advice would be (if a Conor inspired tattoo is a must) to take some of your personal Bright Eyes insipred ideas (everything from images, words, song titles, lyrics) to your tattoo artist and maybe try and have them interpret a design from them. If you are going to a good tattoo place most any of the artists should be able to come up with something that will be both original in design and represent the spirit of the tattoo for yourself. They are all great artists and may surprise you with their interpretation of a custom Bright Eyes tattoo.
Something to think of as well is that you already have the Craft Brew tattoo (which I think is totally cool), but do you really want another public image on your body?

I have to vigorously second friendly here on finding a tattoo artist you like and having them design something. My Hylian Crest wouldn't have turned out anywhere near as awesome as it is without Ximena's input, which came from her almost immediately upon my sending her a picture of it. Good artists really get what you want, and have the experience, knowledge, and creativity to expand on your original idea to points you never even would have dreamed of. And yes, this is a recommendation for Ximena, since you're moving to P-land anyways.

tell you what an awesome idea it is to get a big fucking tattoo of WKD's little bitch face you're definitely going to have to go find a Bright Eyes forum. That's not what I was asking for. I was basically saying that regardless of your unfounded opinion I am going to get the tattoo that means a lot to me. I don't have the tattoo yet, but basically you are making fun of my future tattoo which is pretty fucked up because who wants people to tell them that there tattoo is a mistake and a "bitch face". That being said, I am the asshole for even expecting any more than that. I don't want to go to a Bright Eyes forum. I think this forum is awesome for the most part.

It actually reminds me of when I told my coworkers I was getting married and they all said "Don't do it man, you're making the biggest mistake of your life". That's not something you want to hear when you are heading into something that means a lot to you.
