It's awesome when you score good gear. It's less awesome when most of it gets inevitably left for the trash heap. The waste is only so upsetting to me because if we could somehow share resources more efficiently, nobody would have to buy anything.
I'm imagining a website showing availability at each campsite (much like airplane seat rows). Each camp is a clickable link where you could contact the campsite leader, who could roughly list the equipment they have available and offer to "host" travelers coming in by plane or without equipment.
The only reason I don't think this is completely absurd and impossible is because I've witnessed the power of community at these events time and time again. I've taken people into my camp and I've also had my weekend fucking MADE by some very generous people when I flew thousands of miles from home with little more than a sleeping bag.

I'm so down for a festival where I don't wake up fucking barbecued and gasping for air an hour after the 6 AM sunrise.

Nah. I'm pretty sure that as of 3 years ago, you can just jam any two words together and create a bonafide new word. Portmanteau.
Thanks, HG. It's not what I wanted to hear, but it's what I needed.

It kind of scared me when I searched for that word and found nothing on this forum.
Does that mean I shouldn't even bother packing it? Ideally I would like to find a place in the campground to hang (and avoid bringing a tent), but I'm getting the impression that trees are hard to come by. Also, we can't count on hammocking between vehicles because we'll only have our rental car (possibly no car if I can arrange a ride for myself and two others).
I'm coming in from Detroit by plane and carrying my gear on my back, so I don't want to bring anything unnecessary.
Is this festival hammockable?
Thanks for the help!

My girlfriend and I trying to plan our first trip to Sasquatch and airfare is not really an option at $400-500. If anyone would like to share the price of a rental to get there and back, or if anyone has room for us let me know here or in a PM.

My girlfriend and I would be willing to contribute to this idea. We're in MI and we can't afford to fly out there. If you guys need more bodies to make this RV plan work, let me know.
