Yes I can't say I'd go see him now a days. I got lucky and saw him open for the Grateful Dead four shows before Jerry passed away. It was the time of his unplugged album and he delivered an acoustic and an electric set that were just awesome. Though I feel HG is optimistic as it's been twenty five since Dylan's quality period. One other name that hasn't been mentioned is Elivs Costello. You would have to agree that this man has spanned many genres and is still actually releasing relevant music today. Add that to the pure brilliance of his first three albums and I think he should be considered as one of the all time greats.

I would also recommend "Isolation Drills" as a good starting point as well. I saw them at Matador 21 last fall and it was awesome. I'm pretty sure they played all of Bee Thousand. I went nuts for Hot Freaks. Hoping for a little further along the catalogue this time.

Now I'm curious. While I do enjoy Bright Eyes, I don't know whether I would label him best songwriter of our generation. Saying that I am curious about who you think does hold this title in our day and age. Music journalists have been looking to bestow this title on someone since Dylan showed up on the scene and if anyone wants to argue the brilliance of Dylan from 1961 to 1975 regardless of his vocal stylings I'll happily get into it.

And as for the MCD show it was performance art of the highest level and quite a nod to Iggy Pop. I never regret being there for it, I was just excited for some of the raging non stop show I've seen them deliver.

I was really lucky in the late nineties to work at most of the record stores in Victoria, BC so I got to see a lot stuff for free and in really small venues. The first time I saw MM was in a third rate strip bar called the Ice House in 2000. HG will love calling me down on this but I saw AF in a bar that holds no more than 100 people in it. I saw Nashville Pussy on their first tour. I managed to see The MCD and At the Drive In Tour. I also have all my ticket stubs to 85 percent of the shows I have attended. This will also be my third time at Sasquatch.

I agree I8 that there was something awesome about seeing spencer berate the entire crowd but as a big fan and having seen them five times before I was just hoping for a great rock performance that day not the spectacle that occurred. Especially since I had gotten a whole bunch of people around me in the pit stoked for it.

Will this eclipse the Murder City Devils meltdown in 09. It'll be tough to beat

This will be my fourth time seeing the Lips and it has always been a great show. Funnily enough two of the previous times involved MM as well.

Weird as I had so discounted J. Mascis due to his April 29th show in Seattle with the black heart procession not that I'm complaining.

If it is the lineup I'm only disappointed due to the fact I've seen most of these bands before unlike previous years I've gone.

I know especially since my tickets are only for four though apparently ATDI will be headlining with GVSB, with an undercard of the Dead and Promise Ring and a surprise opener of the Exploding Hearts. Heady news indeed.
