Giddy-up!
Has anyone else noticed that Google Maps updated their satellite images of the Gorge? They've got multiple stages set up so it looks like a festival, but it definitely isn't Sasquatch for a few reasons. Any ideas when the pictures may have been taken? My guess is during that DMB festival this year.
Also, not counting Street View, has anyone noticed how good GMaps is at removing people from their images? It makes lots of places look like they've come down with a bad case of zombie invasion.

An NHL team in Seattle would be awesome. And yes, I read "N-H-L" and therefore use "an" as you do, and all should. Seattle can have the Coyotes, and I think they should change the name to the Supersonics because it's an awesome name. Since the basketball team played there I only assume the Key is suitable for an NHL team, but where would the Thunderbirds play? Maybe the Ronald McDonald rink can accommodate them?

Win #1 for the 'Nucks tonight. Aside from the wrap-around in the 2nd period I thought Schneider played really well. I hope #33 is okay!

Speaking of QE Park, lost discs, and weed, the last time I played that course I met a guy who goes by "Mark in the Park" and runs a lost-and-found for frolfers. He also sells herbal supplements. He takes business cards from local shops and hand-writes "lost-and-found, and seller of fine herb" on the back with his phone number. He'll try to rip you off if you're not careful, though.
In general, it's a really good idea to put your name and phone number on all your discs.
I've only ever played the course at QE Park and the one at Jericho, and I like both for different reasons. The massive hill at Jericho makes for a real challenge!

I thought both Radiohead and FTP had decent sound. Radiohead was especially well mixed and their performance was as tight as ever. If Thom's voice was off I did not notice because he always sounds fucked up. I just plain didn't care for FTP's performance. You could tell the lead singer was nervous, and I hope the band does away with their awkward dancing once they get over their nerves. And when they brought out Mr. G I at first thought it was a joke but quickly recognized that it was actually Kenny G up there. For a program that tries very hard to be cutting edge I do not understand this move at all.
No one has mentioned it yet, but the Lady Antebellum performance was also well mixed, but holy jesus their sound is insufferable.

So wolfhat, what did you think of the show? Oh man, such an awesome show! I will definitely see them again at every opportunity. I would have bought tickets to the second night but it was my girlfriend's birthday and she would not have been pleased if I bailed. I missed the opener because I was waiting on my girlfriend, actually, but I heard they were good. She hurt her back just that morning and had to go to the doctor. Because of this we grabbed seats in the 6th row on the middle and took part in the isle dance party (me more than her.) Normally I hate that The Vogue has seats everywhere but the very front (I wish they could remove them like The Paramount does in Seattle) but it really saved my lady on Friday. With out those seats so close we would have been stuck much further away, but instead had an awesome view and a seat for her to rest. It wasn't as ruckus as in the very front, but I'll be up there next time! You didn't happen to go to their DJ set afterward at the Waldorf did you?

I just recently rewatched Mulholland Drive for the first time in years and that scene still freaks me out.

This is almost exactly how I would try and explain daily deals to my grand parents just before they banned me.

My favorite type of potatoes are twice baked. My favorite type of eggs are devilled. I do not think this is a coincidence.

Olives are the fucking best, and everyone had better know it. I have some garlic/jalapeno stuffed jumbo green olives in my fridge right now. Costco size!

Add Malone's to that list, davers.
And Fox, it was actually just under $6 for the pint, which as you know isn't bad for this town!

Hello all! Yes, I am back! But only for now. I've been spending a lot of time in the field recently and will be going back soon. I am in dire need of some new music for my trips though, so I'll be reading up on a few of these threads this week.
GIB lager sucks, and the honey lager isn't much better. 99% of North American lagers suck, but there are a few tasty ones out there.
Bowen Island is my favorite cheap beer. It's what my girlfriend and I call "fridge filler." It's one of the cheapest options available and more than a decent deal given the price point. I buy their traditional lager, Irish cream ale, IPA, and more recently their hemp blonde ale fairly regularly. Their pale ale is okay, but more like a lager than anything else, and their honey brown brown lager is fucking gross.
Oh, and I had a Lagunita's IPA on tap today. It was heavenly.

Likening GIB with Pyramid is a great comparison. In both cases if they're the only microbrews on offer at a pub I will go for them, but if there are others available I likely won't. Both are great "entry level" microbrews that serve the purpose of showing domestic drinkers the light, but once you've expanded your palate a bit more you will likely leave them behind.

Hey kids, it's me. I bet you thought that I was dead. But when I fell over I just broke my leg and got a hemorrhage in my head!
A few friends and I are thinking about spending New Year's Eve in Portland this year and are looking for suggestions. I've never really been there before and have a list of things to do a mile long, but what we are looking for are the more NYE specific events. What goes on in town for welcoming the new year? What hotels/neighborhoods are best to stay in? When does the third season of Portlandia come out?
And any all suggestions are welcome!
