Bonnaroo 2007, Friday
(12:45pm-1:45pm)- RX Bandits (1 hour set!! how amazing) (2:00pm-3:30pm)- Tortoise (4:00pm-5:30pm) -Hot Chip (so sick! paired with some excellent substances) (6:00pm-7:30) The Roots (could have been the substances, but they killed hard) (9:00pm-11:30pm) -Tool (super close and guest appearance by Tom Morello!) (12am) (substances) (12:00am-6:00am)- String Cheese Incident, STS9 and some DJ Shadow!!!!! (what a way to end a night)
-Seeing Bruce and Phish on the farm was insane, but all in all this was one of the better entire days I've had at a festival.

Word on Music, all music!! As devil's advocate I would also say there's even a smaller minority of us who (for reason's such as: play an instrument, play in a band, age, grown up in music crazy families, been to tons of shows, or other things ...) love music in an inside an out sort of way. I find (and this sounds snobby) from a long exposure and "education" you become waaaayyyyy more picky about the artists you're excited for. It's like, the more you know, the harder you need to look for what really gets you going. While there are many decent bands on the undercard, many are re-hashes or B-versions of other stuff already out there. Before I get pegged as someone who "only wants the classics man!", I love new music, but I want it to be exciting and NEW! I feel sometimes people are actively looking through the internet to find bands that "no one knows about", which doesn't always mean they are great. I would also add that Sasquatch is not the festival I would personally suggest as one that showcases GREAT new talent. Sasquatch is a popular west coast fest, it's fun, but it is what it is imo.

First off, fuck the Bamboozle crowd, they suck cocks gay scene faaaaaaagggootttttsssssss (friends of mine, though). . Really? c'mon dude. The only good MGMT song is the cover they did once of til Tuesday's "Voices Carry", which they definitely won't play. Watching the crowd react to them not playing Kids will prob be best part of their set. Why can't they be on the Big Foot stage before Ween? ?

I think every festival should close with dj's into the dawn (i get the logistics of why not) or the choice of headliner or DJ. As sweet as Boize Noize are, at the end of a festival what ever makes you keep dancing and enjoying the vibe is always amazing.

I think the sound of ween probably directly translates to the taste of cock in your mouth anyways. (that is, if you could translate a sound to a taste). not that I know what cock tastes like...but that's just my two cents. I will either be watching neon indian + boys noize, or just gettin faded "Dude" alert!

The Boss is the best!!! It's funny when I say this to people who don't REALLY know his stuff, they just don't get it. Before I was really introduced to Bruce and the ESB around 2000 my favorite bands were Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Built to Spill, Frank Black, Neil Young, Bowie, Velvet Underground ect... and they still are, but after getting fully into his stuff and seeing him live from The Rising tour, nobody touches him in my books.
Anyone wanting to get into his stuff should really start at the begining
Primarily with the DVD Live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 (absolutely incrdible, shows how fuckin cool he was (still is) in the 70s)
Then start with
-Greetings From Asbury Park -The Wild the Innocent and The E Street Shuffle -Born to Run -Darkness on the Edge of Town
Kinda gives a great foundation to appreciate and love everything after

Wow alot of great bands up already! I will attempt to limit to my top 10 I would bring to a deserted Island Concert (aka best bands I've seen live)
The Boss with TESB (Timeless talent and songwriter/performer) Neil Young (Just dirty grooves all night long) Radiohead (When I want my mind blown) Phish (when I am blowin' my mind) Disco Biscuits (They could jam with Phish!) Chk Chk Chk !!! (Straight up dancin') Ryan Adams and the Cardinals (A mini Boss and Neil Young) Arcade Fire (Something sweet and modern) Erykah Badu (smooth spacey phreak RnB) Daft Punk (When I need a guitar break)
Shit, would probably revise that multiple times before headin' to the Island

FROM INTERSTATEEIGHT "Here's how youtube works, everyone: 1.) Pick your video. Let's say I want to appreciate the fine musicianship of Red Hot Chili Peppers, who do not care about image and are Legitimate Artists (R). So I pick the following video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Dql7EiMWE2.) Then, click the youtube tag. It will look like this: (youtube)(/youtube) EXCEPT instead of parentheses, there will be brackets. 3.) Then, take the part of the link that comes after watch?v= which, in this instance, is 06Dql7EiMWE. 4.) Then, put THAT between the youtube tags. It will look like this, but once again -- brackets instead of parentheses: (youtube)06Dql7EiMWE(/youtube)" I say blame this guy What is wrong with awesome videos by awesome bands? ?

Just listened to it this morning - Unreal!!!!!! Patterson, Mike, and Shonna are brilliant:) Definitely feels like their most cohesive album (not that that hurt the others in any way). Love the keys and organ, goddamn beautiful! They all sound like great live tunes, the back half finishes out soooooo strong. Wish they could have a 2hr + set!

The posts with youtube videos have by far the most views since they have been up! I think they are a great way of checking out new bands or giving bands you had previous judgments against another chance. Festivals are a chance to discover new bands and and give you great experiences, I could talk about a band I love and want people to try and check out until the text runs out, or I can just show 'em and let them decide for themselves. The other thing is that, no offense to the board, but nobody's having any conversation on here!!!!!!!!!! Compared to other fest boards I can't believe how dead this is. Finally, don't go into posts that say "Sasquatch Videos" or "Check out MMJ Live", it may save you some grief, create your own posts and lets talk

OK Go should just show their music videos on giant screens, that would be so much more enjoyable than the music.

To add to the 90's revenge of Massive Attack, Pavement, Ween and now (and the coolest) the Posies. What a great add, this is some 90's power pop I am totally excited for . Never had the chance to see them live yet. Their website says they are playing "Frosting On The Beater" in Seattle April 27. This would be great at Sasquatch. Sweet sweet sweet jangly psychidelic crunchy bliss ;D From the 90's And now, still looks sweet
