I've heard more than one person refer to the origins of Tame Impala as a comparison. It took them a little time to find their sound after wearing their influences on their shleeves, but I'd say they eventually did.
Robert Plant actually gave them his seal of approval. Pretty cool thing to get from the guy you're ripping off haha. They're a really young band though and clearly have a lot of talent, so I would imagine with a little growing and maturing they can definitely come into their own a find their own sound.
Retroactively adding The War on Drugs' A Deeper Understanding. I was pretty turned off by this record throughout most of 2017 because of how much I thought it sounded like a cheap continuation of Lost in a Dream, but upon giving it some more attention as part of my Coachella research, I've fallen pretty hard for it. I maintain that it uses a few too many of the same sounds and ideas from LiaD, but hell, maybe that isn't a bad thing? These guys are putting out some truly beautiful music that nobody else is touching right now.
Sadly Canada won't let me view those videos you posted last night, but Les Mis is one of my favorite things of all time, so I trust your judgement. I'll see about tracking down that music!
Anyway this guy's shtick has been done a million times. Even if most of these names end up on the lineup I guarantee he's no more certain of their likelihood right now than we are.
Yes, because if there's ever a mysterious new Reddit user making lineup proclamations that we should trust, it's someone named fucking goldeneye69. Y'all gettin trolled.
