Mind you I'm not the biggest Addiction or Nails fan around(each do have a few good songs, each, IMO), but I'm not about to write off the whole festival just because a few bands(most of which aren't even 100% confirmed yet) that make up not even close to a majority of the acts that will play that weekend may not be what I want. Sasquatch organizers could listen to exactly what I wanted, but probably everyone here would hate that. So on and so forth. Just curious, who would your ideal headliners be?

The only highlight from REM's set was Stipe taking off his sock, smelling it, and tossing it into the crowd. The Cure were a complete zzzzzzzz. Only the Flips achieved true headliner status last year. Same goes for Bjork and The Beastie Boys in '07. They had incredible sets.
Yeah, Jane's Addiction and NIN aren't the best headliners (if that list is true) but there's more to Sasquatch than great headliners.

I was just looking into the VIP pass after seeing it mentioned here. Doesn't sound like you get much for your money. I would have to agree. I was contemplating buying VIP tixs for this year (if the line up convinces me) and was looking at what all you get for the cash.....and I'm thinking: not much. But I wanted to see what others, who have had the VIP package in the past thought. What are your opinions? Is it worth the dough? There are a few things to consider. I understand that Coachella has done away with VIP food and are now making it an additional purchase. Not sure if Sasquatch is doing the same. But in 2007 the VIP food was hot and actually food with a difference between lunch and dinner. Whereas in 2008, it was lunch meat and vitamin water all day long. In 2009 maybe it'll be pretzels. The VIP seating area is cool, it's directly center to the stage (next to the soundboard) and last year The Upright Citizen's Brigade guys sat there making a wee bit of starfucking possible. Lots of space to dance as needed. That was probably my favorite bit about VIP. I could go down to the masses when I wanted and if I needed to lounge, go back up to VIP. You also get vouchers for gear, though the 2007 manbag was cooler than the 2008 backpack. Premiere Camping is included obviously, not sure what the cost would be separately. Is it really worth it? Probably not. But there's a certain coolness to it, especially if you're bringing a girl. In fact, except in 2 instances (ome of which the guys won VIP tickets from a Boston radio station), all the VIPers I met were couples.

Premiere camping worked brill for showers, took one everyday. About a 30 second hike from my tent, hot water, reasonably clean. Plenty of nudity so depending on sexual preference, could be a bonus.

After sitting next to Tim Meadows stoned out of his mind, this is probably the strangest encounter from last year. 7:15 - The Mars Volta
Awful, just awful. One of the worst listening experiences ever. First time I've ever used ear plugs to block out music. I missed Ghostland Observatory for this?
I escaped the music for a few minutes to try to find more glow sticks and in the process had the strangest encounter of my life. It goes as follows...
A freakishly tall man, dressed in short shorts, with glitter makeup, wearing a tight, half t-shirt that read, in rainbow letters "I Love Pussy" stops me.artist rendition "I love your shirt", he said
"Thanks, I like your shirt too."
"Oh my god, I got so much pussy wearing this shirt. I had sex with like 10 girls."
"Really!?"
"Well, not at once."
"Oh."
"So how was the show?"
"Conchords were great, I even made a sign for them. It said Wet For Bret."
Lightly pushing me in the chest, he then replied- "Oh my god, you're such a FAG."
And just like that, he disappeared in a plume of glitter.

My point is you're criticizing a festival you're not even attending, which seems bizarre to me. Different people entertain themselves in different ways though. I'm not entertained by this back and forth banter. Please go on. I have a vested interest considering I (A, have gone twice) (B, will attend next year) and (C, will go this year if my favourite band is headlining). The success of this year's show directly affects my ability to go in the future. I don't know why you're being so thick about it all. For someone not entertained in the back and forth, you're quoting an awful lot of loyalfromlondon posts.

And for the record, my not going this year has absolutely nothing to do with ticket prices (no sure how the hell you came to that conclusion). $1000, $1500, VIP is a treat worth paying with the right bands and food. I went to Sas in 2008 and 2007 and can definitely say having the wrong bands play can bring out the less than desirables. I've always thought of Sasquatch as being about peace and love and a friendly enviroment and bands like Fleet Foxes and Polyphonic Spree mirror that. I wouldn't want to share the area with a bunch of twats rockin' out to Guns N Roses. That said, I thought the line-up last year wasn't remotely as good as 2007 and considering how much I spent for the VIP tickets, I'm taking a pass on 2009. Unless Radiohead plays. I should have added that. I stand by everything else, twats, GNR, and all ssssssssssss.

Your generalizing, both hyperbolic and defensive, is also incongruous with the bands we're talking about. But maybe if you make the comment again, in an even vaguer and more indignant way (I've also seen your 'I'm not even going this year because I paid so much for last years' tickets!' post, which makes me wonder what exactly your mission is here), I'll understand what you're saying. You're certainly not going to convince those of us who like these bands that they're not good bands. ? What's wrong with personal opinion. As far as a "mission" goes, why would I not be able to discuss Sasquatch, seeing as I've gone the past 2 years? I've had plenty of people disagree with my band selections in the past year here but I never got bent out of shape over it. sheeshhhhhhhh sssssssssss And for the record, my not going this year has absolutely nothing to do with ticket prices (no sure how the hell you came to that conclusion). $1000, $1500, VIP is a treat worth paying with the right bands and food. But I'm filming a documentary on the Appalachian Trail beginning in April which would make a trip to Washington State somewhat difficult. Now if Radiohead is headliner, I might make a concession. Saw them twice last year and they were grand.

Haha, really I think Peanut Butter Jelly is the worst band in that group, I would rather watch all of those bands Twice & Sober, before ever watching PBJ, even if it was at a free show while while receiving oral from the olsen twins. The only one I can't vouch for in the group is the Avett Brothers, but aside from that it's the announced bands that are keeping me excited through all the speculation surrounding other horrible bands. In other words I agree with the latter poster and not the former. My bad, I tend to only like good music And the Olsen Twins, I think we're 15 minutes away from people predicting Dashboard Confessionals and Jonas Brothers.

hmmm Kings of Leon, The Decemberists, Peter Bjorn and John, Monotonix, Animal Collective, Neko Case, Passion Pit, The Avett Brothers, Sun Kil Moon, John Vanderslice and Grizzly Bear.Pretty weak thus far, outside of PBJ. Not really if you consider there are approximately 50 more bands to be announced. When you consider the reality being that "most" people attending Sasquatch would be newly acquainted with the vast majority of the 50 bands (those guys and gal playing over at Yeti and Wookie), yes, pretty weak THUS FAR. I could have my mind blown with the rest of the announced line-up. I'm only going by the 11 listed above.

I was able to leave and re-enter in 07 to change clothes when it was fuckin' freezing. We tried to us our VIP pass to shanghai a shuttle. In the end, we ended up grabbing a media shuttle and heading backstage with MTV Canada by claiming our VIP passes were press credentials. I'm a writer so that wasn't too much of a stretch at the time.

Would anybody be opposed to the Beastie Boys making a return? Their two sets in 2007 were incredible!

I literally just got an email that they're playing in my town on May 29th and I said to my girlfriend "that's one band I can't get into." I've listened to most of their stuff but meh, doesn't do it for me.

Well, this looks like a good enough thread to drop in on. I'm a Bonnaroo, (Inforoo) regular that is going to give Sasquatch a try this year. Not big on Jam bands, so not real interested in Phish being at Roo. Plus they raised prices in VIP, cut out the food, unless you want to pay 194.00 for six meals. The indy band selection is stellar and I'm hoping some of those crossover to Sasquatch. Everything I hear about Sasquatch is good, so can't wait to see a lineup. I'm from Minnesota and our 10KLF festival took a major crap, in my opinion with two nights of WSP. That being said, Sasquatch will be my only festival this year. One question, when can we expect to see a lineup? I just read that (about Roo making VIP food separate). I guess that works, IF the food is better because of it. The VIP food is shit at Sasquatch. It was pretty good in 2007 but in 2008, it was lunch meat and cookies. And I'm a vegetarian so I had to make sliced cheese and onion sandwiches. I also read that Roo allows PAYMENT PLANS for ticket purchases. That's brilliant.
