The pixies are not headline material. I'll be so fuckin depressed if they come out. I'm with that other dude who said maybe indeed the only thing special about the 10th anniversary is the 4th day. We need at least 1 other prime time act.

Come on alex, don't pretend to be the only person on earth that wasn't aware of last year's headliners.
Count me in.

I bashed the Pixies earlier for touring the same material for the last seven years, but really, it's the best fucking material. If they play Doolittle in its entirety, I'm set.

Don't get me wrong, I fully intend to get a ticket to their show when they come through. The point I'm trying to make is that they're playing theatres and small venues on this tour, and I'm having a hard time with the fact that I'll be seeing them in a 2000 seat venue, then a month later seeing them headline a night at a 40,000 person festival.
That being said, I'm pretty sure if MMJ or Pavement were to play here they'd be playing that same 2000 seat venue...so that my not be the best measuring stick.

It's tough to measure headline-ability. Is it the headliner that makes the festival or is it the festival that makes the headliner?

and full disclosure, I had never heard of Pavement before they were announced as last year's headliner

You obviously don't read pitchfork.
Actually my older sister loved Pavement, that's how I knew them.

What counds as 'big' for you guys? It's not like there's really THAT many bands that could sell out an arena; Radiohead, Kanye, Arcade Fire on a GOOD night if they're lucky... U2, Gaga, Stones, Who, Green Day. Am I missing any? What are you really expecting? Arcade Fire is almost sure to be there; more than one off that list won't happen ANYWHERE but Coach and Lolla, and half those names NONE of us want anyway. Almost all of the headliners from the last five years have been roughly Pixies caliber. Every once in a while they land someone big: R.E.M., NIN, etc. Barring something major, you're getting the AF set you all have been bitching for for all these years, so there's your R.E.M./NIN for '11. If you think Squatch's lineup is going to beat Coach's in terms of star power, you're fucking delusional and that's that. Let those of us who aren't fucking human weathervanes when it comes to music have our Pixies and our Ween.

I'd rather listen to the (uuggh) German Techno-Pop band Autobahn that Pixies. Haha.

I was actually testing you HG to see if you were actually worthy of having 'Shomer fuckin' shabbos' as your tag at the bottom of all your posts. Clearly you are not as my prior post was a complete joke and a reference to the greatest comedy of all time.

Dude, I caught the Lebowski reference. Maybe it actually sounded like you were making that statement? You've got like ten posts, how do I know you're not actually a Kraftwerk diehard?
Hi, I'm Horned Gramma, I don't think we've met.

Let those of us who aren't fucking human weathervanes when it comes to music have our Pixies and our Ween. I guess I keep forgetting that Foo Fighters are going to be there too. Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire, Wilco, Pixies is a solid headliner list. I never said that The Pixies aren't capable of headlining, or that I want the Stones, or anything like that. I simply stated that they're not the draw they once were. I have this habit of looking at every day of a festival as it's own separate event. If each individual date was promoted based solely on the headliner, I have my doubts that the date with The Pixies would sell out. Thankfully that's not the case. I am not a Wilco fan, and I guess my perception is that with the lineup the way it is rumoured, we're getting 2 nights of serious headliners, and 2 nights of nostalgia/indie-circle-jerk. Foo Fighters are the Massive Attack of this year Pixies are the Ween of this year Wilco is the Pavement of this year and Arcade Fire is the My Morning Jacket of this year that's how I see it. -human weathervane of music

Hi. I'm misterL and it's a pleasure to meet you as well. I lurk around here because I'm fuckin dyin to see the rest of the lineup. I love the Gorge and I'll be traveling about 18 hours to get there(my 6th visit) and I'll be leading a big ass caravan of people again. There's nowhere else I'd rather spend my birthday. Hate me all you want, I'm just not feelin the Pixies.

What the fuck are you talking about? What typo? Any die hard Lebowski fan will catch an Autobahn reference especially when preceded by the (ugggh) which is exactly what Maude says before she says their name.

Have you lurked long enough to know that this place is fucking saturated with Lebowski quotes?
The reference was obvious; what you meant by it was not.

Foo Fighters are the Massive Attack of this year Pixies are the Ween of this year Wilco is the Pavement of this year and Arcade Fire is the My Morning Jacket of this year that's how I see it. Incorrect. While Massive Attack may not be a big name for you... they are a HUGE name for many other people. And Sasquatch was the only American Festival to get them. Last year aside, Massive Attack just don't play in the US that often. Should Portishead or Blur or Pulp play at Sasquatch - then you'd have your 'Massive Attack' of this year. But it appears those scenarios are unlikely.
