Alcest + yummy beer + cold winter night = the ticket. On that note, anyone interested in hearing some really beautiful music should check these guys out. They've always sort of floated between the black metal and post-rock/shoegazey genres but definitely leaned on the latter of the two on this album.

Pea, have you ever listened to/seen Wolves in the Throne Room?

Never seen, but definitely heard. It's kind of hard to avoid those guys living anywhere in the PNW. I sort of stopped going to metal shows before they started gaining their recent popularity, so I never really got a chance to see them.

Me either, and I've only listened to their first album, but that shit is tight. Yea...black metal was never really my forte, I couldn't for the life of me even pretend to enjoy the intentional shit recording quality of the "classics" of the genre. I was always a fan of a more over-produced and over-the-top symphonic bands like Dimmu Borgir. Which immediately made me worthless and uninformed in the eyes of the purists but whatevvvvs.

Ha, I don't give a shit about production. In fact, I tend to enjoy a band's less produced material to its later heavily produced stuff. But hey, my tagline is "Hates Beer." What the fuck am I doing in this thread?

What the fuck am I doing in this thread? Haha I do love that you hate beer but frequent this thread. And if you want to hear some lol-worthy production, give this baby a listen. The band basically spent all of the money their label gave them on drugs and booze and returned with this 4-track recorded album. It became an instant classic among black metal diehards. Granted, I love this album myself but it took a long time for me to get past the production. No matter how you look at it, it IS down right awful haha.

This is hilarious. Simply hilarious. Man, some of the worse production I've ever heard is on the Blood Brother's first album, March on Electric Children. So bad!
