I have not heard very much of Beachwood Sparks. This is the first album I have of theirs and I only gave it a brief listen when I bought a turntable recently. I had to return the turntable because it was a piece of shit so I haven't given them a proper listen yet.

Beer #2 Rogue Creek Ale. Fruity smell. Lots of acidity and an odd cherry taste that has potential but just turns south very quickly. Not for me. It was a sub-par night of beer tasting. That's what I get for exploring new realms I guess.

Switch I am really digging the Beer and Vinyl photos. Kinda what Friendly Destroyer porn would look like.

Yeah, I could do this all night but I only bought two beers and I can't get back to the store because its snowing like crazy here and my wife has the only car that gets around in the snow. Beer and vinyl though, a great combo.

I just tried Phillip's Hop Circle IPA and love love loooooved it. I wanna try more of their beers. Anyway, wolfy my friend, Elysian has a restaurant/bar RIGHT next to the northwest entrance of Qwest Field. I mean, RIGHT next to it. They have all of their beers on tap as well as anywhere between 6-10 others at any given time. On top of that their food is phenomenal and it's the absolute best watering hole for beer lovers before a match. Unless it's a game night, however, they usually close their doors after lunch time since the whole Sodo district is pretty much a ghost town during the evening. I really want to do some good drinking up in Vancouver next time I visit. I had an absolute blast at the few bars I checked out when I was up there a couple weeks ago but Empty promises of even better places with some great craft beer selections so I'm totally amped for another go at it. EDIT: Jesus Christ the forum is moving fast tonight. This was all directed at you wolfhat. Moving much faster than our alcoholic fingers can type! Next time I go to a game down there I know where I'm going beforehand! I always knew about the Pyramid Ale house, so last summer when I brought friends to a Mariners game we went there first. The place was packed of course, and the beer was what you'd expect from Pyramid. If the food at the SoDo Elysian is anything like the one on Pike then I will have no problem convincing the people I'm with. Hell, the beer itself is reason enough to go! There are some great bars here in Van, but I feel like this town has more than its fair share of shitty ones. You just gotta know, or know someone who does. Good thing you had a personal tour guide while you were here! Upon returning to Van I went out for a friend's birthday and the bar we were at had Elysian The Immortal IPA on tap. Those of you who know Vancouver know that this is rare. I had a pint. It was delicious. Alibi Room? A good guess, and I do love that place, but this was actually at St. Augustine's on the Drive. On the corner of 8th, right by Broadway Station. I don't go out that way often enough, but there are a few great beer houses on the Drive. Biercraft (formerly Stella's) has too many Belgian beers to ever try them all, and there are a few others but I'm blanking on the names. Recently it seems like restaurants/bars around here are finally starting to care more about their beer menus. I like this trend!

I'll have to check that place out. I don't really hang on the drive too much, it's not really my scene. I live in the suburbs too, so I'm just not out in Vancity much either. I'm lazy and I smoke too much weed.

No way is Beachwood Sparks s/t better than Once We Were Trees.
Incidentally, Once We Were Trees was going to get the Record a Day treatment today or tomorrow, but now probably not.

IMO U CRANKY GRAMS!
Haha and how did your plans for a record a day get derailed by the mentioning of them?? :/
I'd love to read a review of that album. I haven't spent nearly as much time with it as the S/T.

It got derailed because I was like, 'Why/how the hell would Switch be listening to Beachwood Sparks?', and then I remembered that Beachwood Sparks' Sade cover was in that Scott Pilgrim movie, and that's when I backed away.

Hey now now. I discovered them through a lucky budget CD bin diving experience. Maybe just maybe he had a similar experience??

Cheers! Pea, you've got me all excited about tomorrow night! I can actually go out and celebrate the weekend with a Youngs. I could def milk a few of those. I'm jealous you got a head start! Wasn't it tasty?! That's the perfect early morning/end of the night festival beer.

I am more partial to the simple goodness of a Guinness but the double choco is always a welcome treat

Absolutely. Guinness is always a go-to, but Youngs is like Guinness, but like you said, with a chocolaty surprise My life's dream is to get to the Guinness brewery in Ireland.

Hey now now. I discovered them through a lucky budget CD bin diving experience. Maybe just maybe he had a similar experience?? Actually you are exactly right. I found that album when I was browsing around Value Village in Seattle. It was still sealed so I grabbed it and decided to give it a try. I loved Scott Pilgrim though, great movie.

To kill two birds with one stone:
My dream too is to visit the Guinness brewery one day. Ahhhh
Scott Pilgrim instantly became one of my favorite movies ever.
