It's a nice gesture. Kind of like the Pearl Jam Ten re-issue that came with a replica of Eddie Vedder's notebook, their original demo cassette, and "backstage passes". It's useless, but if you are a fan it's fun to have that kind of thing kicking around and to look at every couple of years.

Can we please get a definitive statement from the mods concerning using this board to share torrent information?

HG, I'm surprised you didn't contradict Stormy and say that the Residents always have the coolest limited release stuff.

When everything is limited release, it becomes hard to make a distinction.

The FBI doesn't care about individual people who torrent. They just want to take down the bigger torrent sites.

Fuck that. YOU should care. This is the same argument as the one about scalping. It's all connected and you all need to just be thinking people about it and fucking do the right thing.

We've been doing it for years without any problems or bitching.

Yeah, well we're not going to do it anymore. It's illegal, morally shady and intellectually dishonest. Keep it in the PMs.
Mods, you go right on ahead and back me up k thx.

We've been doing it for years without any problems or bitching. Yeah I know. Isn't it just the worst EVER when someone calls you out on your bad behavior? I hate that so much! I mean, you take short cuts and screw artists out of hard earned money for years then all of a sudden some asshole wants to tell you that you are taking shortcuts and screwing artists out of hard earned money. Please engage sarcasm when reading the above.

But it's still not going to stop most people. Most artists are getting smart and not sending out the albums to all the bloggers so early making it easy to leak so early.

I'm perfectly aware that barking about filesharing on a message board isn't going to cure the disease. That doesn't mean that we should promote it, enable it or even allow it here. Scalpers are banned instantly when they come poking around this place; it's hard to imagine people who openly engage in filesharing on this board would be dealt with as sternly, but personally I think they should be.
If it weren't for people pirating massive amounts of music, record companies wouldn't be losing sales so drastically. If record companies weren't losing sales so drastically, they wouldn't be in bed with the concert promoters. If they weren't in bed with the concert promoters, then the concert promoters wouldn't be selling tickets to events like Sasquatch and LCD's Madison Square Garden show in bulk to the secondary ticket market. If concert promoters weren't selling tickets in bulk to secondary market ticket brokers, there wouldn't be as many scalpers getting their asses banned from this board.

Or record companies could just stop being assholes.
