You guys Veronica Mars. I laughed, I didn't cry, I quite literally squeed during the whole thing because I am a huge nerd, but I'm pretty sure it's a fairly decent little movie even if you aren't a crazy person who just rewatched all three seasons like me.

Yes you see it! Yes everybody see it! I was in a theatre full of nerds (which was amazing) so my results may be a little unbiased, but it's fucking funny and clever and has some pretty funny non-VM related cameos so even if a person doesn't get all the fan-winks and junk I still think they would enjoy it.
Also, I really hope this starts a McConnassaince of shows cancelled before their time getting movies. PUSHING DAISIES AMIRITE?
Also, VM wasn't really cancelled before it's time but you know what I mean.

Finally saw the movie "Searching for Sugar Man". I have gone from feeling excited to see Rodriguez at Sasquatch to feeling honoured to see him.

Under The Skin was intriguing/trippy and I dug it a lot. Looked and sounded beautiful. If you like weird/pretty movies, I recommend it! PS- ScarJo is a super talented babe and nothing is left to the imagination.

What was everybody's favorite movie from 2014? My personal favorite was Nightcrawler. I thought it was fantastic. Jake should have been nominated for best actor because he was damn good. Some of my other favorites were Birdman and Gone Girl. I am hoping to see Whiplash in the near future.

Some of my other favorites were Birdman and Gone Girl. I am hoping to see Whiplash in the near future. Nightcrawler was great. I don't know if that movie would have been half as good without Gylenhaal though. I liked Gone Girl too, although the ending was kind of a bummer. I haven't seen Birdman or Boyhood, but my favorite films of 2014 were Whiplash, Frank, and The Babadook. They're tied for first in my mind because I loved them all for wildly different reasons. Whiplash was incredibly intense and probably has one of the best ending sequences I've ever seen. JK Simmons deserves all the awards. The Babadook is the first truly great horror movie I've seen in a decade - not a single jump scare, and the soundtrack is really minimal. I've never been more terrified of a pop-up book. Frank may have singlehandedly lifted my musical writer's block and inspired me to get back into serious jamming, and it's also just a beautiful, heartwrenching film. The soundtrack is great too. I also just watched What We Do In The Shadows, which is a mockumentary about a bunch of vampire roommates starring Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords). It was fucking delightful.

Ooh nice. I will check that one out tonight hopefully. I usually don't get a chance to see a lot of the movies that are nominated for the awards but I saw quite a few this year. Whiplash is #1 on my list though. Must see it!

The end of Whiplash is awesome, but the rest was disappointing.
Vice/versa for Birdman, amazing film with a disappointing conclusion IMO, but I think I'm in the minority there.
Inherent Vice is my favorite movie of the past 5 years, at least. See dat shit.

I watched Frank and didn't enjoy it very much, but then I watched it with subtitles and fucking LOVED it. Completely different experiences.

I saw Inherent Vice and had no idea what to make of it. Everyone in the theater was laughing but people also kept leaving halfway through. I was mostly just confused.
Joaquin Phoenix was great, though, and the cinematography was pretty.

I really, really, really enjoy joint smoking on screen, and Joaquin is a natural. I'd actually never enjoyed his acting at all until this film.
