Anybody else going to Father John Misty at the Paramount next week? I am! Do you think he'll be playing new material? He hasn't played any shows since December, so I'm guessing he will. I honestly hadn't even considered that possibility. I'm sure he'll bust out a good cover or two. He's such a great performer, it will be a good show regardless. I've never been to one of his own headlining shows, just festival shows, so I have high expectations for this one.

Been tough getting to shows in 2016 but I have some hopefuls and some for sures in the near future: 4/2 Merso, Slow Code @ Black Lodge4/4 Freddie Gibbs, ILLFIGHTYOU @ Crocodile (hopeful)Memorial Day Weekend Sasquatch (hopeful) 6/8 At The Drive-In @ Showbox SODO 6/11 Good To Die Records 5th Anniversary Show (more info coming soon, can't wait!) 8/12-8/14 Migration Festival (SO EXCITED. I can't wait to see what the night shows are going to be in addition to the fest) There are some more that have slipped my mind but I am going to try and keep track of them here cuz I keep forgetting about shit. Baby brain. Had to scratch that Gibbs show cuz opening day and I need to be on my couch drinking beer and watching baseball. That 4/2 was scratched and replaced with another show on the same date. Narrows, Sandrider, Big Trugck @ The Highline. I finally get to see Narrows! This band has been elusive for me. So stoked! And duh, Sandrider always rules.

Can't wait to hear EITS on The Wilma's new sound system. Also, it looks like they are in for Bumbershoot.

I saw Operators last night in Spokane at the Bartlett, which consist of Dan from Wolf Parade. They put on a really dope show, and Dan said multiple times, "why have I neglected you Spokane." So I hope this influences wolf parade into coming to the Bartlett, maybe for bartfest? Either way I am excited for Wolf Parade and will make my way to the neptune if they dont come to spokane.

Sigur Ros is playing the Paramount September 20th. Their Sasquatch set in 2013 was unbelievable.

Pre-sale for sigur ros' tour on sale tomorrow. God damnit I want to go but it is steep. But two sets with an intermission....maybe I am cheap and it isn't steep? I donno. Going to have to think on it over night.

We paid $92 after fees for the nosebleeds. I'm talking top balcony, row U. A friend of mine told me that after the first 15 minutes of presale the only available tickets were $180. This is insane. The Paramount is nice but it ain't that nice. Kraftwerk was $65 and I was front row. In 2010 Sufjan was $30.
Last time Sigur Ros were in town (not-Sasquatch) they played at Benaroya fucking Hall and it was $30-$40.
Facebook has that stupid "On this Day" feature I keep clicking on and I found a conversation from a few years ago arguing about how $175 was a little steep for Sasquatch. Now it's $350 and neither of those prices include camping, and the lineups are remarkably worse.
I don't pretend to know what's happening to the live music industry and general economics mystifies me but this kind of insane price gouging is driving me further and further away from wanting to be a part of the scene in any way.

I paid $92.75 (Canadian) after fees and was lucky enough to find 1 seat after it was listed as "sold out". 20th row Center floor. Anybody else here get Vancouver Sigur Ros tickets?

What happened was the death of record sales. Especially with all these hip music streaming services, Isn't it obvious?

I'll yell you what, I'm sure glad I'm an adult with an adult paycheck these days, because if these universal price hikes for live music were happening 5-10 years ago (or if I was 5-10 years younger) I'd be priced right out of most of the events I currently enjoy.

I told myself I wasn't going to pay this much anymore after Radiohead in 2012, but then I saw 2 sets with core members only and thought back to their 2008 show at the Shnitz and now here I am with a $95 floor ticket to the Paramount show.
