My dad woke me up at 5am a few months ago with three phone calls in rapid succession, and when I finally answered he was wasted and said, "Oh my god, you have to go listen to Joe Bonamassa, the greatest blues guitarist I've ever seen."

My dad took me to every single show I saw between the ages of thirteen and twenty [except The Cure in '96. He absolutely refused and I had to go alone]. A two-hour drive each way on a school night to see Rage Against the Machine would be a lot to ask of any 40-something dad. My dad was and is a Mormon, so that makes it even more peculiar.
My dad was also a lighting engineer for concert venues in Las Vegas in the 70's, though. It was pretty important to him to impart the importance of rock music to his children.
