I've spent roughly 3% of my posts on this board telling all who will listen how average Interpol is live. If it wasn't for Passion Pit's first Sasquatch performance, Interpol would be the worst show I've seen at Sasquatch (and I saw the Mars Volta).
However, I hear their current tour has a pretty cool light show, and Turn On The Bright Lights is one of my favorite albums from the aughts. Antics is pretty good too. Hearing a couple songs off their first two albums, while watching a cool light show in a venue (as opposed to the arenas they played the last couple years), is worth the price of admission.
Also, I am amazed Gramms likes Antics, and mildly amused he likes Turn On The Bright Lights.

I'm starting to get a real kick out of folks' pre-conceived notions about what they think I might or might not like.
I've used this quote before probably, but I'll use it again. It's a Mr. Burns quote from that old Simpsons episode about Mt. Splashmore, the one with Ringo Starr where Marge paints Burns nude:
"I don't know art, but I know what I hate - and I don't hate this."
I don't know how to effectively communicate that I'm not a snob, that I just know what I hate. Pitchfork really does a number on some people's ability to establish their own taste, I think (that's not addressed to anyone in particular).

Like, I'm really into Vampire Weekend, too, and even *I* think that doesn't jive with my personality.

The worst show I ever saw was Interpol back in 2005. From what I hear, they haven't improved...

Please, I know your music taste better than I know my own musical taste. I am cursed to the point that I like pop music music, so KOL's "Sex Is On Fire," will always remain, in my mind, a great pop song. I also love Portugal. The Man, for their live shows, and although I really dig their music, I don't reach for it twelve times a day. You like great music, and have turned me onto some great shit I've never heard, but you dislike music that isn't unique, which is why you would never like KOL or Portugal. The Man. I'm not surprised you like Vampire Weekend, and I would've been more surprised if you didn't like MGMT's new album (which is awesome). But Interpol was never unique. That is why I am surprised you like them.

Oh I don't know, Interpol has their 'thing'. It's unique in that when you hear an Interpol song you know pretty well that it's Interpol.

Ok, here's where my seams start to show: I don't know shit about Joy Division. Never spent any time with their music at all.

In all fairness, there are plenty of bands going around that are modern day rip-offs of Joy Division.

I knew Interpol before Joy Division as well, but after listening to Joy Division, the rip-off seems obvious. In all fairness, there are plenty of bands going around that are modern day rip-offs of Joy Division. Like who? I ask because I really don't know. I've always thought Interpol was THE rip-off of Joy Division, and I don't know many other bands who sound like either.

So I'm confused, why can't the bands playing at Primavera play at Sasquatch? I thought last year a couple of bands that played there came to sasquatch.

It's not that they can't and some of them surely will but it's the same reason that a band who plays new york the Thursday before sasquatch is less likely to play. It costs a lot of money and it's pretty taxing on the bands to fly that far just for a one off show.
that said I'm pretty bummed that emeralds isn't going to be there (although I don't know how well they'd work anyway...)

That's a surprising list, because I was really expecting Twin Shadow, Fleet Foxes, The Walkmen, Das Racist. Like cbat said, it doesn't rule them all out, but it's tough for those bands to make it.

BSS did it last year so did Pavement. There were more if i remember right. I think playing at primavera makes a band more likely and less likely at the same time. Kind of like how Dewey Cox needs more and less blankets.

BSS, Pavement, the xx, Dr. Dog, No Age, Japandroids AND The New Pornographers. That is quite a few. Don't worry.
