Swans are playing Primavera and Seattle in Feb. I'd imagine they won't be playing.

Interpol is also playing in January, so hopefully they aren't coming back this year.

They are a bland live band and without Carlos D they aren't even a shadow of the band they started as.

Am I the only person that hasn't enjoyed anything Interpol has ever put out?

I have not enjoyed one of their albums in its entirety. To me there are some songs I dig and then what seems like a lot of filler. But I have plenty of friends that swear by them, especially their first album, so I'm not sure what to think.

Its interesting to look in the past and see how super hyped bands turned out. When the whole rock revival started in the early 2000s with the White Stripes, the Strokes, YYYs and Interpol leading the way, there was huge amounts of pressure to save rock. The White Stripes and YYYs faired quite well both changing up their sound and having great albums as a whole beside their first couple albums. The Strokes (whom I love) and Interpol had break out freshman albums that are considered modern classics even today, however, have faltered to try to come up with something even remotely close to those albums. Its interesting that when Benicassim announced the Strokes as one of their headliners, I found it funny that they said that they were more than just a one hit wonder. The Strokes are pretty awesome live but had never considered them to be a one hit wonder!

I would never consider The Strokes to be a one hit wonder. But I would say they have greatly dropped off as the albums progressed. No matter what anyone says I still think their next album will be great (fingers crossed).

No matter what anyone says I still think their next album will be great (fingers crossed). Me too! The part about them being a one hit wonder was just interesting considering Last Night was their only radio hit.

That means Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one hit wonders (actually, i can't remember the last time I heard Maps on the radio) and Interpol are no hit wonders. Fortunately, these phrases mean nothing since who listens to the radio anyway?

The part about them being a one hit wonder was just interesting considering Last Night was their only radio hit. I don't know how it is where you live. But the radio here in Canada doesn't play anything even mildly progressive. I would be surprised if my local radio station even had the 'Last Night' single.

I know, I was just thinking about that myself! A lot of the bands that play these fests aren't even on the radio anyways and how many no hit wonders have headlined. The radio is so stupid and unimportant these days.

who listens to the radio anyway? I do! When I work, I am confined to a truck for hours on end, I have to have something to entertain me. Which as it turns out is talk radio, even if their talking about gardening or politics; It is still miles ahead of Nickleback or whatever they play these days.

In spite of myself, I enjoy 'Turn on the Bright Lights' and 'Antics' (although that has mostly to do with the input of Peter Katis). I have no desire to see them perform live, though.

I have no desire to see them perform live, though. Don't bother. I have seen them twice. I will assure you it is nothing to write home about.

Yep, Interpol are boring live. No energy. It's funny to think how big they were after their first two albums, and now we're hoping they don't fill a spot on the lineup
