Just got home from Parquet Courts. I know it's only February, but that will probably be one of my top 5 shows of 2016.
I thought they were great at Sasquatch, but seeing them in a small bar was a whole other story.

EDIT: JOANNA NEWSOM SPOILAZ
Can we talk about Joanna Newsom and how that show was fucking incredible? I need to give it some time to sink in but I want to say that was one of the top shows of my entire life. The Newsom family band were amazing. Hearing sisters harmonize is such a unique and marvelous sound. I cannot believe they played Emily, Have One On Me, Cosmia, AND Baby Birch. I expected maybe one of those, but seeing her play all four of those songs in one set was unreal. She nailed Baby Birch with a broken string, while dude played a tambura and a guitar AT THE SAME TIME. I cried at least six times. My mouth was open the entire show. I was bummed initially when she was not on the Sasquatch lineup this year, but that show was meant to be experienced in a theater. 6 stars.

Just got home from Migration. What a killer festival. Really stellar work by the organizers, and probably the chillest crowd I've ever seen. Great to see badchoices again too! Highlights: - Pale Chalice playing in complete darkness - Khemmis debuting a kickass new song - Krallice playing more notes than all the other bands on the lineup combined (seriously, they're like a vocal-less metal Melt-Banana that plays 7-15 minute songs) - Panopticon getting a five minute set of applause after soundcheck before they even played a song, and then playing forever and killing every single second of their first live performance ever - Dead to a Dying World and Mizmor playing incredibly heavy 2-song sets - Mournful Congregation dooming up the place, bring us slowwwly across the finish line with 70bpm odysseys of noise

Haven't logged on for a while, crazy busy summer. Nick, that was one of the most special and awesome musical weekends of my life. I pretty much liked every band that I saw and only knew about 20% of them prior to the weekend. So many great hangs with great people, excellent shows and Olympia is a fun/weird little town to party in. I don't know if I could really narrow down my favorites from the weekend but in no particular order my 10 favs were:
Yellow Eyes Forn Mizmor Hell Yautja Dead To A Dying World Thou Kowloon Walled City Anicon Obsequiae
Too many good shows. Smoking weed in the theater during Mournful Congregation in the chair with my head back and eyes closed was one of my favorite moments haha. Too many good things. Would like to time travel.

Spent this last Sunday rocking out at Project Pabst in Portland. Hop Along tore it up, Parquet Courts surpassed my expectations, and UMO put on another great show! I had noticed the love for Ween on here and while I knew who they were I wasn't too familiar with their music, but wow that set was brown. So much shredding! And of course, Tame Impala to end the night was mind blowing as always. If the festival comes back to Portland next year I definitely gotta make a weekend out of it!

So M83 and Yeasayer were just as good as they were at Sasquatch if anyone was wondering I was at that show, too. I think I agree with you but it was hard to confirm thanks to the shittiest venue in Seattle. WOW, that was my first time seeing a show at WAMU Theater and that was garbage. They were good though. Just disappointed in a pricy show sounding so shitty.

The only show I've seen at the WaMu was Portishead and I didn't think it was so bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
