I declined the entire list, as in, "no possibility." Could you maybe elaborate more on this? I atleast thought that A Perfect Circle would be in the realistic range. They would be a smart choice. Just saying. I'm also curious what everybody's supporting points are on why they think my list is shit. Saying that I am a troll is not a valid argument. HG, I can expect to hear from you on this, but atleast you might have some arguing points other than the typical "I don't like them" answer. Everybody thinks they are a music expert. Back it up. Is this your first Sasquatch? the reason why I ask is because those bands that you eluded too are not the Sasquatch VIBE, This festival caters too alot of the college radio/indie crowd pixies, pavement, REM , Beck, modest mouse, ween Now in the past the have had some big names but they are not really mainstream acts, NIN, bjork, the cure. all of these bands mentioned can survive without being on local Fm station. Bands like silverchair and Incubus, need main stream Radio to survive, you lose that indie feel to the festival that Adam Zacks tries hard to maintain. you can even make an arguement that Bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden don't fit in the Sasquatch vibe, but they are Pacific NW bands. so when KnowIDyuh says no to bands like that, it's because he has been going to the festival since 2006 ( if I am not Mistaken), is the administrator, and pretty much knows which acts will fly at this festival. the reason some people think that you are a troll is because you make these statements, (delibrately or not, i am giving you the benefit of the doubt), that people may take as to starting up arguments.

Holy crap I'm having a hard time keeping up with the board. But on the plus side, everyone already made the relevant points in response to that guy's post.
Suggestion: "We've all talked about the same bands" is not an argument for posting "no chance in hell" possibilities to spice shit up or whatever. It's an argument for letting this thread lay dormant, if need be, until you have something legitimate or productive to contribute. And let's be clear: there is no excuse for invoking Linkin Park in a thread called "educated suggestions for next year."

Is Explosions in the Sky out of the question? I believe they have a new album coming out and I've been kicking myself since 2009 for missing them....

Pretty much what everyone else said. The implications of the Foo Fighters confirmation is being felt already! I feel like we're experiencing the first episode of "Extreme Makeover: Music Edition." I have a feeling mhancho83 is going to be a new man come June, if he sticks around.
And funnygirrrl, I caught the fever in 2005 (Arcade Fire, Kanye West, Wilco, Modest Mouse, Pixies). Imagine the excitement finding out your one day festival was expanding to three days (in 2006).

Cool I didn't know about sasquatch until 2006(my first year) but 2005 looked like an awesome lineup.

Have you not seen the previous sasquatch lineups? Most of the bands you listed were kinda off. Of course, I have. Most of what I conjured up is based on the past and current headliners of sasquatch. I'll explain myself, when I have more time today later on.

Current tour dates: 04-06 New York, NY - Radio City Music Hall * 05-16 Dublin, Ireland - Vicar St 05-17 Manchester, England - Academy 05-19 London, England - Roundhouse 05-20 Paris, France - Batacian 05-22 Berlin, Germany - Postbahnhof 05-23 Koln, Germany - Essigfabrik 05-24 Brussels, Belgium - Ancienne Belgique 05-25 Amsterdam, Netherlands - Paradiso Not out of the question, but probably unlikely.

HG, I had a nice laugh to myself after reading your post earlier today on Maynard playing in daylight. It seems so true. The man is a bit of a recluse. Then again, he does own a winery in AZ where there is plenty of sun. I don't think he is into whoring Tool around right now. If he wanted to, he could easily sell out the Key Arena again with them. With APC, however, he and Billy (whats his face) don't feel as confident with the ticket sales. Little did they know, people still cared to see them and they sold out their three night stint at the showbox within seconds. That being said. You may be right about them not being headliner material (like the Foos) but they can definitely still draw a crowd. Every one of those bands could just as much as...say... The Strokes or Death Cab... Maybe not as big as FF. I also see The argument of maybe it not being the "Right" crowd, but its already going to be the same crowd with FF playing heavy sets.
As far as the Conchords go, I don't think they broke up. They just quit the tv show and aren't currently doing anything. They did happen to play a one off over seas festival last year though.
And now to explain the logic behind my post last night: I'm aware that some of the bands I listed first including Silverchair, Bush and Smashing Pumpkins should all be on the "Oh god no" list as well. With FF playing and past acts like QUOTSA and NINJA, I thought they would all fit the vibe well. Surprisingly, I thought more would be supportive of Pumpkins playing. I personally can't stand them. AIC are not as big of a deal as Soundgarden but they are the only big PNW band that weren't mentioned. If Ben Harper and Jack Johnson could play sasquatch, so could JBT. They also aren't a radio band, bar the new shit maybe. I don't think any of these artists beat out the group of contenders that were listed by others. I think its even more likely for bands like Strokes, Modest Mouse, and Wilco. I just wanted to throw some potentials out there and see what everyones thoughts were.

In a messed up kind of way, the Foo Fighters made me do it. Don't get me wrong, they are my favorite band...but I'm really surprised they even got booked. Funny Girl, you caught me. This will be my first year attending the squatch. Working a weekend shift prevented me from going in '07 and '08.. And I thought last year's lineup was insanely good, but I just couldn't get tickets in time... Won't be making that mistake this year. I reckon that if the lineup is anything like the last, I'll be a new man. I don't doubt the admins words at all. I realize that some or alot of you may dismiss my opinions and suggestions from this news of me being a first timer, but Let it be known that I know my shit and I do enough research to validate my points.

I for one would be totally fine with seeing APC play the fest... Do they fit in? Not really. As for Alice in Chains, I got free tickets to see them headline a show a couple months ago. Was it better than the free tickets I got to Stone Temple Pilots? You bet your ass it was. Do I want to see it again? Nope!

I think funnygrrl is the perfect choice, since she's been to the festival for many years, and she has already speculated about who might headline. funnygrrl, if you are unwilling to accept this nomination, nominate another boarder. You win in my mind.

A Perfect Circle would be pretty neat. I used to be a big Tool fan but then I realized that Maynard is a fucking stuck-up piece of shit. I saw Tool on their "warm-up" theater tour in Seattle. People were paying $400 per ticket on Ebay to see this show. Maynard basically told the crowd that they were a bunch of stupid morons to pay that much for a concert. Then they only played for like 50 minutes with no encore. I was fucking pissed.

It's up- any headliner talk should be directed to the 2011 headliner thread.

Awesome awesome awesome! It doesn't help that the fact of the matter is, most of the fans at Tool shows appear to be a bunch of boneheaded dicks... And The only show I'd maybe pay $400 for is Led Zeppelin. People are just bat shit crazy to be paying that much for concert tickets. I actually expect Maynard to be an asshole to his crowd.

It's unfortunate that a lot of TooL fans are such bastards, but I find it to be true of music fans in general. That set was 75 minutes long, and they NEVER play encores.
NEVER.
Also, Maynard is a fucking dick. He's never made any bones about the fact that he is a pissy old man. especially in the last 4 years.
