Sigur Ros was close to my heart at the time. I had just spent a lonely few months living in West Virginia and they provided the soundtrack to my walks through the woods.
I was new to Seattle, and new to concert-going in general. So I went to the theater the day of the show, expecting there to be plenty of tickets available. The girl at the box office let me know otherwise. I made my way downtown, sulking. A scalper saw me, and asked if I was trying to get tickets for tonight's show. He offered them at double the face value. I couldn't afford it, said thanks, and continued walking. Four blocks down, I hear him running behind me, shouting, "YO! HEY, YO!"
He was a large black man involved in an illegal market (selling outside the venue), so I started running my scared ass off. I ran about a block, then I heard him scream, "YO, FACE VALUE!".
Relieved, we made a deal. He must have been hard up for Sigur Ros fans. The tickets were the very back row of the balcony, but they were kind of perfect. The Paramount is one of the most beautiful venues I've been to and to sit in the very back is to capture every reverberated sound and emotion.
That's my story. Not that you asked. I've been so wordy on this board for some reason.

That story was awesome hahaha. I WILL catch Sigur Ros next time they are in Seattle. Funny thing about the Paramount, I saw deadmau5 there in September and somehow the venue managed to work perfectly for his show as well. I think that theater just visually compliments any production put on there.

my top 10 w/ explanation
1. Ratatat - Been a fan for a while but never seen them. Their style + penchant for remixes seems like they'll be a lot of fun live.
2. Major Lazer - one of the highlights of MFNW last year. Amazing dance party and they have a cool hype man that dances on a ladder
3. Bassnectar - I plan on consuming many drugs before this set. I've heard good things about this guy live. I hope it will be the equivalent of what deadmau5 was last year 4. Chromeo - moar dancing, albeit in a different style.
5. Death Cab for Cutie - been listening for a while but again, never seen live before. looking forward to a headliner whose tunes I'm fairly familiar with, good time to chill out. considering camping a good spot in the hill for them.
6. MSTRKRFT - recently got into them but I've know of girlsareshort for a while. they seem like they'll be perfect to light up the dance tent.
7. DFA 1979 - like MSTRKRFT, I'm just starting to listen to them but I dig, and being one of the heavier bands at Sasquatch I can't wait to get in on some mosh.
8. Iron & Wine - big fan, love the chill/soothing factor of his music.
9. !!! - I like how these guys can just jam it for extended periods of time. perfect style for a live/outdoor/festival setting.
10. Das Racist - worried since their live rep is less than stellar, but I'll check them out nonetheless. Shut up, Dude and Sit Down, Man were some of my favorite albums of 2010.

11. Foo Fighters 12. Wilco 13. Decemberists 14. Mstrkrft 15. DFA1979 16. Yeasayer 17. Local Natives 18. Matt and Kim 19. Surfer Blood 20. The Antlers
I'll only expect to see about 20 shows over the weekend, hopefully it will work out that i can see my top 20, but there will surely be conflicts, and there are still about 20 other bands i need to check out that might be able to slide into my lineup.

No one else? Alright, here we go then. Advance warning: Your collective opinion is wrong. The Holy Trinity1. Flaming Lips - 219.5 2. Death From Above 1979 - 191.5 3. Modest Mouse - 169 Those top two are absolutely fantastic (seen 'em a combined five times). Modest Mouse got ten points because interstate posted in this thread. But who the fuck is Death from Above 1979? Why are you so excited? Sit down and eat your cereal. Also Over 100 Points4. Bassnectar - 105 Wow, I didn't know you guys liked to wub that much. Have fun with that. You Have Become Your Father, pt. 15. Guided By Voices - 89 6. Wilco - 86.5 I know you kids like rock and roll, well, this is pretty rockin'!!!! Chromeo7. Chromeo - 80 chromeo You Have Become Your Father, pt. 28. Foo Fighters - 77 9. Wolf Parade - 75.5 10. Deerhunter - 69.5 Hey, check out what I found in the attic! You see, bands back in my day used guitars to play music as the main instrument. Too bad they died out, it was pretty cool. Here, I think I still remember the first couple bars from Everlong. We were dancing and then everything was on fire and then I met Jesus and he gave me this medallion and then I woke up and I was dancing11. Sleigh Bells - 67 12. Ratatat - 62.5 13. Flying Lotus - 49.5 14. Major Lazer - 45.5 In the above scenario, this is the only things your kids listen to. That's right, in the future all music will sound like this. Flying Lotus will be the King of England. Also, everything else will be exactly like The Fifth Element. Conveniently in order from most to least macho15. Archers of Loaf - 45 16. Death Cab for Cutie - 43.5 17. Iron & Wine - 42 18. Local Natives - 41.5 I like Local Natives plenty, but they'd lose to Iron & Wine in a punching contest. Look at those guys. MSTRKRFT19. MSTRKRFT - 38.5 mstrkrft Ladiezzzzzz20. Beach House - 36 21. Robyn - 33.5 mmm. aww girl. aww girl yeah. yeah. come here girl. mm, wanna go get some? yeah you know you do. mmm, bitch. gimme some. yeah. oh. oh uh huh. Look at this fucking guy22. Twin Shadow - 32.5 Conveniently in order from least to most danceable23. Surfer Blood - 32 24. Yeasayer - 30 25. !!! - 28.5 26. Skrillex - 27 It's fun to find patterns. Old bands, in that they are not new bands27. The Decemberists - 25.5 28. The Radio Dept - 23.5 29. Old 97's - 22.5 30. Bright Eyes - 21.5 Wait why is the Decemberists this low, y'all suck! I'm glad I decided to spend Memorial Day weekend digging for treasure in the Western Sahara. "Come on, they're fantastic!"31. Rodrigo Y Gabriela - 19.5 32. Smith Westerns - 19 33. The Antlers - 18 34. Gold Panda - 16.5 35. Reggie Watts - 16 36. Best Coast - 15.5 37. The Drums - 15 38. Wye Oak - 15 "Nah, sorry, I'd rather not walk right now. I'll just stay here and watch Cold War Kids, you can do what you want." Look at me, I'm so eclectic!39. Matt & Kim - 14.5 40. Das Racist - 13.5 Shut up, no you're not. Come back when you can make a playlist that includes OFWGKTA, Conway Twitty, Donna Summer, and Rimsky-Korsakov. What is this I don't even41. K-OS - 13 42. Noah and the Whale - 13 I just haven't bothered to get it off my iPod yet, is all.43. Cold War Kids - 12 44. The Thermals - 11.5 45. Flogging Molly - 10.5 46. Black Mountain - 10 47. 1.) Earlier today, The Head and the Heart sold out the Showbox in 15 minutes.
2.) Respect where it's due. 52 is incorrectly ranked.
3.) As soon as I figure out how to give individual users titles that they can't change, I am going to have the most fun with this board ever.

I know how to do #3 but it doesn't take away the post ranking system. It's just a secondary custom title.
