I had a lot of fun at those parties. Seeing him go from playing basements to the main stage at the Gorge was genuinely inspiring.

I heard him and his lady worked 80 hour weeks for the whole 4-5 years leading up to his blow up. Kinda figures why they don’t do much anymore.

That, and the Ryan Lewis breakup (last I heard, Ryan was building his own studio in Eastern WA).

I think this is the biggest piece right here. Mack got all the glory, but Ryan was by far the more talented one. His production is the real reason The Heist blew up like it did.

My friend and I have discussed this before and how it’s a shame he didn’t produce for others more during that come up phase. He’s done songs with Kesha and a few others I can’t remember, but it feels like it’s too late. To a lesser degree Billie Eilish’s brother really deserves more recognition for creating this huge musical platform for his 14 year old sister as well

I fully expected him to blow up around 2013-14 and working with everyone in hip hop. But, for whatever reason, he chose to stay tethered to Mack then just retreated to Spokane when they broke up.
