So last year, location for camping was first come first serve, and me and friends in the other car simply went in next to each other, ending up with campsites next to each other, everything worked out. But this year, there are tickets for parking and camping. on my ticket, it says that I have a specific spot (somewhere in camp 7) with a specific row number and seat number. Is it different this year? do I have a specific location that I have to park/ can i not just park next to my friends?

It's just a tracking number. They're generally on GA tickets too.
Imagine the logistical nightmare of directing people to individual parking spots as they arrive. Not possible. You will be able to camp with your friends without issue if you arrive together.

I think the sections/numbers on the camping passes are just to help them track ticket sales, much the same way that GA tickets still have a ticket number on them. Assigned camping spots would be a nightmare for the parking attendants and people driving into the campground. Plus, the website still says the only way to camp with your friends is to arrive together.

Note to self: if you start typing a response to a post, then get distracted for a while in the middle, check to see if Fox already answered the questions before finishing your post.
