Word from the MusicFest NW Facebook page says the lineup will be out next week! Hoping for some good acts on there. Also interesting to see that they added a "Venues" page on to their website again, maybe they're going back to the original layout of the festival or something?

They might just do what Project Pabst did and have separate shows at other venues after the headliner plays.

Does anyone have ideas of who could play this year? Here are some of my thoughts based on the relative sizes of artists who played last year's newly-formatted MFNW (and keeping in mind they're adding Friday evening shows this year, so they might be able to spend a bit more for one headliner ala Sasquatch 2011 with Foo Fighters on the shortest festival day) and tour schedules:
Alabama Shakes Brand New Desaparecidos Iron & Wine & Ben Bridwell Matt and Kim The Tallest Man On Earth Toro y Moi Wilco
wild card: The Shins

Brand New played a free show for MFNW a few years ago and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. I really hope they bring em back.

They also said "Can't say which ones, but some of you will be getting your wishes!" on Facebook after people guessed Passion Pit, Animal Collective, RL Grime, Vance Joy, Pure Bathing Culture, Typhoon, Dirty Projectors, Kishi Bashi, Sondre Lerche, Father John Misty, St. Vincent, Hey Marseilles, Sylvan Esso, Tall Tall Trees, Fat White Family, Tycho, The Decemberists, The Shins, The Lumineers, Porter Robinson, Alabama Shakes, Flume, My Morning Jacket, Chance the Rapper, and Chvrches

I could see Modest Mouse doing a show.

Got an email from the festival says the lineup coming out on Wednesay Last year, Willamette Week posted the lineup the day before MFNW announced it would be released. Hopefully we get some news later today! While I don't necessarily want to believe the who-MFNW-recently-followed-on-Twitter-will-play-this-year's-festival theory because I don't need any more Foster the People in my life, Modest Mouse seems like a no-brainer with a new album and no Portland date since last fall's Project Pabst.

I don't think MFNW usually gets headliners as big as Modest Mouse though do they?

Foster the People just announced a Summer Tour with Milo Greene which is another band that MusicFest NW followed No West Coast dates besides California in late September.

I don't think MFNW usually gets headliners as big as Modest Mouse though do they? No, but MFNW added a half day on Friday after not selling out last year. Modest Mouse sells tickets in Portland. Why else would they not yet have a Portland show following this new album? Foster the People just announced a Summer Tour with Milo Greene which is another band that MusicFest NW followed No West Coast dates besides California in late September. Well poo.

Do you think there's any chance of Smashing Pumpkins? They haven't played Portland since 2010 and finish their tour with Marilyn Manson the weekend before.

It's posted on their website. Most of the liked bands without all the good ones.
