It's hard to be disappointed with anything in that set because he did kill every song he did, but more TPAB tracks world have been nice. Especially considering the fact that a solid quarter of the set was dedicated to doing Maad City over and over. Yeah what was up with him playing that song twice? We left around that time. I was surprisingly really moved from seeing Robert Plant. I'm really glad I went. He actually played it four or five times all together. Bringing fans onstage to rap it with him was pretty cool, but it took a long time that I would have rather seen used for other songs. But, like I said, a minor complaint about an otherwise stellar performance. I too was surprised by how moved I was by Robert Plant and impressed by how many young people stuck around for his set. That man is a first generation rock god, one of the originals of a dying breed, and we were lucky to be in his presence.

Kendrick was lame and I think people are in denial. I left after it turned into karaoke hour. Dot dot dot fuck you. Ryan Adams on the other hand killed it even though the pit was filled with kids who never heard one of his songs before that night.

I have a hard time believing Kendrick was lame. Got a couple of votes for the absolutely killed it end of the spectrum and one for the lame end. Anybody else have thoughts? I am curious because I will be seeing him headline in Vegas at the end of September. Not that it will change how I feel going into it but I am just wondering what the rest of you boarders thought of his set.

Just kinda lame they he pretty much ignored his new album.

I have no doubt he's a great performer, I just thought that show sucked. 1 tpab song, 1 song played 4 times (twice by audience members), he finished early. Maybe because I was the only person not shit faced in the crowd. I thought schoolboy had a way better set.

Am I getting kicked out, or is my opinion so unpopular that people are going to... What exactly? Hurt my feelings to death?

Kendrick was great, but not as great as leaving early and being in the mid-front for the best dance session of the weekend at Hot Chip.

It means I thought we were cool, Boner. But we obviously have fundamentally different views of the way things are in the world and you're now dead to us. Seriously though, I understand some people's disappointment, but his set was anything but lame. Sure, he mostly did old songs, but the different arrangements with the live band and even different lyrics on many of the songs made then feel new and exciting to me. True, the Maad City bit did drag on a while, but I never felt bored with it and I felt genuinely happy for Lou and Payton having what was undoubtedly the greatest night of their lives. Kendrick just nailed the first rule of show business: always leave them wanting more.

I really wish I had been able to stay for the end of Hot Chip, but the 1-2-3 of Run The Jewels, Kendrick, and The Glitch Mob wiped me out. I was on the rail for RTJ, then literally ran to the floor for Kendrick, then power walked back up the hill for the last half hour or so of Glitch Mob and left everything I had left on the dirty dance floor of El Chupacabra. I could barely make the walk back to camp, but hearing Hot Chip echo up the path made the walk possible.

I am still digesting it but my wife and I were talking about how cool those songs would be live. I get the bummer on not seeing those translated on stage. Also, are you from Canada? I thought you were a PDX guy. Favourite, eh?

Kendrick was great, but not as great as leaving early and being in the mid-front for the best dance session of the weekend at Hot Chip. When I knew I couldn't go I didn't bother looking at the schedule. I didn't realize those were overlapping sets. I would have done what you did. Hot Chip was one of my biggest sad points on missing Sasquatch this year. Them and Courtney of course.

I got some great video of Avant Gardener and Small Poppies that I'll post once I get everything sorted out.

I actually don't care about Kendrick either way, but in the good ol' days one would be eviscerated for having an opinion that differed from the board groupthink.

Hot Chip was absolutely worth it. I saw some Glitch Mob for a couple songs and was worried that I was a little too strong in convincing my whole camp group (20 people) to meet up early to get close for Hot Chip. But boy, after the first song I was absolutely vindicated. The whole crew hugged me hahaha. Hot Chip was THE dance/electronic show for me this year. Still bummed about how lame the dance tent was. Glitch Mob wasn't bad and Aluna killed it. Kaytranada was really fun. But fuck were the bros annoying and Rustie boring.

The Glitch Mob was badass, but they were the only thing I watched in the tent all weekend except for Ron Funches and a few minutes of Vox Mod while I was hiding from the sun waiting for Chromeo. The electronic lineup was pretty weak this year, or at least overmatched by schedule conflicts.
