Think of all the money you'd save though! It only costs $130 Canadian, which is like 6 bucks American right now.

I'm fully expecting Pemberton to land some big rap names this year. Possibly Drake or Kanye given the success and popularity of rap at the festival last year.

And I would love to see either. Especially Kanye. I might go to Lollapalooza if Kanye is playing

Nope, there isn't even one for Squamish that I know of and that fest is coming up on it's 6th year. The 2008 Pemby had a forum on the official website that was fairly well used but these guys don't seem interested in that.

Pemberton had a decent undercard last year. I had a blast at the festival. I think the layout is wicked and the venue overall is great. They have the right idea with the festival. Hopefully they can pull it off again this year. I am thinking they will probably book Drake as their Canadian headliner. I would be totally fine with that.

This is taking place outside of Toronto the weekend after Pemberton. Last year at Pemberton there were lots of acts that were across Canada the weekends before/after so I'm sure a few of these will show up at Pemberton. This lineup is bad though.

That blows because Kendrick, Modest Mouse, St Vincent, Girl Talk, Hey Roseta, Sloan and Fucked Up (aka pretty much the best things on that lineup) all played Pemberton last year so probably won't this year.
Sam Smith is very likely for Squamish which rules him out for Pemby which is awesome. Alt J and Hozier are pretty real possibilities though and that makes me sad.

I was very impressed with last year's lineup, particularly as the first revival of an old brand, so I have pretty solid expectations for it this year.
Though, I was thoroughly awaiting Sasquatch to blow me away and that didn't exactly happen...
This is pretty out there, but I get the sense from last year's lineup and the official compilation/highlight video on Pemby's website (which focused quite a bit on the hip hop acts) that rap will be an even bigger component of this year's lineup. Drake or Yeezy has a headliner isn't too outrageous of a suggestion, though I'd probably bank on Drake since he's Canadian and just seems more likely to play a festival of Pemberton's size. Though, Kanye did cancel the Vancouver date on his Yeezus tour so who knows...
in addition, Run the Jewels seem a safe bet since they're on a whole lotta lineups this year, as do a handful of more up and coming acts (Vince Staples, Joey Bada$$, YG, Earl Sweatshirt who didn't play as he was supposed to last year, etc.)
Aside from that...just random artists that seem like a fit to me:
-Panda Bear, who doesn't have any PNW dates as of yet and hasn't been around the area since AC's Vancouver show in 2013 - Grimes, who played last year but got stuck in a perplexing mid afternoon slot - also has a new album coming out - White Lung, who are local, Pitchfork approved, and would fill the role that Fucked Up and METZ brought last year - BADBADNOTGOOD, Canadian, I've been banking on these guys appearing on any number of festival lineups since III dropped; they're releasing a new album with ghostface so maybe he'll come too - Tame Impala, who are playing Squatch but could easily headline a fest like Pemby
and, uh, others. i imagine the lineup will drop sometime in March.

The headliners last year were Nine Inch Nails, Outkast, and Deadmau5.. Tame Impala isn't a headliner. I would love them to play a late night set on Sunday like Frank Ocean did at Pemberton last year or like Tame Impala did at Sasquatch after their set was moved to the Yeti stage in 2013. The Frank set to finish the weekend with was.. amazingly perfect. I was hoping to see AC/DC headline, but they have a Vancouver show in September. I think Drake/Yeezy is a good guess, but there's no reason to expect them to be there. I'm crossing my fingers that these dudes can put together another solid lineup this year because my bank account is stopping me from attending Sasquatch this year. Also, pretty sure Modest Mouse, Kendrick Lamar, and Soundgarden subheadlined.. so I guess you could say Pemberton's headliners could actually be "bigger" than Sasquatch's if you look at the whole weekend? Rip me apart fellas

Rip me apart fellas I wish I could disagree with this statement. Aye. Although, to be fair, Modest and Kendrick have new records coming out so that kinda sorta quasi shoots up their popularity/appeal/"size" - but still. True nuff about Impala, though. I tend to overestimate them because of love, but hey, they have a new record coming out too...if it's as well-received (or better received) than Lonerism, I wouldn't count myself out. Hard to gauge how much of an x factor the "new release" thing is. A shame about Grimes...I actually really dug "Go", I dunno why people freaked. It was one song, and one that was originally written for Rihanna...and she did the Skrillex schtick better than most. Nothing to bunch one's panties over. Regardless, that headline is a bit clickbaity; I doubt that negative reception was much of a factor in her scrapping the album. Chick seems to operate on her own terms. Oh, and just because I didn't see it mentioned: one of the main "issues" of last year (aside from the death...) was the carrying-of-camp-materials to the actual campground, especially for those who parked in the way-aways lot. (it was like a forty minute walk??) I can't find a link but I recall reading that they've added a new parking lot and have made changes to smooth out the process - which might mean more shuttles, or a pathway easier on the feet, or whatever. But, a nice improvement. also, probably looking at one less stage, which isn't a terrible idea given the bleed between 'em: www.piquenewsmagazine.com/whistler/pemberton-music-festival-organizers-hope-to-improve-event-in-2015/Content?oid=2638895

Sasquatch at least for me, hasn't had strong headliners since 2012. In regard's to Jeff's post about Pemberton v Sasquatch.
In fact of the last two years I've only gone to see a single headliner.
Whereas in 2011 and 2012 I watched every single one.

Liar. We both watched approximately 45 seconds of The National last year.

-Panda Bear, who doesn't have any PNW dates as of yet and hasn't been around the area since AC's Vancouver show in 2013. Panda'a at Primavera end of May and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come back to North America after that since Portugal is home. But if he does, I'm there.
