Oh ya, that. I totally forgot. That one might be worth a trip over the mountains. Now I need to find something else to be sad about.

I would get tickets one of the Fuck Buttons shows, but now there is chatter about a major project happening at work that week. Might even have to get rid of my Kraftwerk tickets if that happens. Nature of my line of work I guess. Have to get shit done when other people aren't working.

Doug Benson was a casualty of Julysquatch and now he's going to be at the Neptune on May 23 instead of coming to the Gorge with us. Wassupwidat?

So stoked for Liars. It's going to be a little bit different in the middle of the day, but still stoked for this set.

However, I will say this: not my favorite Primus show. They were amazing and it was one of the best sets the weekend, but still number 2 in terms of Primus overall for me. Yeah. Of the Primus shows I've seen, that one probably ranks somewhere around #3 or #4. They sounded fucking excellent, but that setlist was the definition of a 'festival set'. I want to say the deepest cut they threw down was 'Southbound Pachyderm'. I tried to check setlist.fm to corroborate that, but the setlist posted there indicates that they played a Residents cover that night and that is not the fucking Primus show that I was at that night. Either that, or I seriously need to lay off the fucking drugs. Although that 'Pachyderm' was probably the best 'Pachyderm' I've ever seen them do, it says something about the show as a whole that it was ultimately outranked by the Sigur Ros set. I'm not even really that into Sigur Ros. As for Tame Impala -- I tried like hell to watch that show, but they seriously went on like, what, like an hour late at least? Fuck that, I walked back to camp with Floor Tim and that was the right decision. It should have been totally possible to watch almost all of both sets. I WILL say that, objectively speaking, the EVENT STATUS of seeing Sigur Ros on the Gorge main stage under a full moon on an early summer evening makes it pretty difficult to rationalize the decision to have been doing anything else at the time.

Didn't Tame Impala and Sigur Ros play at the same time because the former was late?

Didn't Tame Impala and Sigur Ros play at the same time because the former was late? Yup. I was able to catch the last few songs from Tame Impala after Sigur Ros finished up though.

They even played the song 'Festival'. Of the Sigur Ros shows I've seen, that one probably ranks somewhere around #2 or #3. The deepest cut they threw down was 'Olsen Olsen'. Although 'Olsen' was probably the best 'Olsen' I've ever seen them do, it says something about the show as a whole that it was ultimately outranked by the Primus set. I am really into Primus, though.

You are right about them only playing "the hits", but they did play "Over the Falls" and "Duchess and the Proverbial Mind Spread" which was pretty cool. It's the first time I've ever seen them play anything off The Brown Album, which happens to be one of my favorite Primus albums.

So stoked for Liars. It's going to be a little bit different in the middle of the day, but still stoked for this set. This looks pretty intense. But I think I'm going to have to choose Night Beats over Liars this time around. I saw Liars a few years back and they were great, but their new stuff isn't grabbing me, so it looks like the garage rawk is going to win this battle.

A video where Aaron is not playing a guitar is exactly what I didn't want to see.

That's weird. They've played 'Over the Falls' literally every single time I've ever seen them, and 'Duchess' at least half of the times. I've never been big on Brown Album, honestly. I keep hoping that 'Shake Hands With Beef' will find its way back into rotation, but I'd probably be fine if I never saw them play 'Fisticuffs' again.
And my corn chip consumption is pretty moderate at this point in my life. Relatively speaking, anyway.

Of course, you have seen them more than I have. This was only my third time seeing them; the first was another "festival set" and the second was on the Tour de Fromage, so half the set was dedicated to Seas of Cheese. I just remember being disappointed both times at the lack of Brown in the setlist.

I take it back, I've seen them play 'Over the Falls' every time except for one (of the seven times I've seen them). The first of the two nights they did for New Year's 2010 was a front-to-back Seas of Cheese set, with the encore being the premiere of 'Salmon Man' and then 'Harold'. Myyyyy shit, what a night.
I saw them on the Brown Album tour in 1997; I was sixteen years old and it was my first Primus show, and I was still underwhelmed. The set was predominantly Brown tunes, and Les was soooooo fucking bored playing them. Bored with Primus altogether, at the time. I think that has colored my opinion of Brown ever since. That and Bryan Mantia, who is not my favorite Primus drummer.

I just love the way the drums sound on that album. Not really the way they're played, but the way they're recorded. It took a while to grow on me when it came out, but now it's around my #3 or 4 favorite Primus album.

Gonna do this:
1.) Frizzle Fry 2.) Sailing the Seas of Cheese 3.) Tales From the Punchbowl 4.) Pork Soda 5.) Green Naugahyde 6.) Brown Album
Z.) Antipop
#3 - #5 are so close that no amount of shuffling was able to make that list look right.

Because fuuuuuuck Antipop. I don't even own a copy of that shit anymore. It's so bad. Considering I haven't seen them play a single cut off of it in the last fifteen years, I think Les probably feels the same way about it.
