Im planning a buddy's bachelor party for the May 2014 festival. We will be coming from Vancouver and most likely arriving at different times. To ensure we get a spot that we can all camp at together is upgrading to Premium Camping a decent idea? Do you get more space in premium camping that you could use to add people to your camping area? Or is it a glorified version of regular camping when the cars are jammed pretty close together?
If space is all you're worried about, then premium camping is definitely not necessary. They have staging areas where your cars can wait for others, and even if some of your party arrives well after you've settled into your campsite it's usually easy enough to navigate the grounds to your site.
Premier camping probably doesn't make it any easier to add a whole lot of people to your camp. Your best bet would be to get as big of group as possible to arrive at the same time. When the rest of the party shows up you can probably wedge a few extra cars in front of your existing bank of cars and make it work. Either that or the others can camp elsewhere and just come and hang out with you guys. If you get more than 4 cars together you will probably have enough space for you all to hang out during campground time.
Last year I went with a large group and we did not arrive at the same time. They waited for us just inside the grounds and we camped next to each other. If you are worried about space because you have one car with say, 5 people, when parking beside your friends park as far away as possible without the security getting mad at you for a little extra room.
