It would be great if someone could give me more details about premiere camping and what it was like last year.
I've bought premiere camping along with 2 tickets for this year! I'm trying to convince a couple other friends to help shell out for the cost and join our twosome in premiere, and I'd like to be able to give them more details.
The website just mentions free showers, "private" washrooms, and a shuttle.
I've read everything from free coffee to flush toilets on different websites, but it's not very specific on the site. I'd love some more details on what exactly is there and why it's better than general!
Thanks!

It isn't 'better' than regular camping according to most people on this site. It's quieter, you get more space, and you are slightly closer to the venue. You also get shuttle bus that takes you to the venue.
I've never done it, and I probably won't ever do it.
There are much better ways to spend $160.

As someone who has been to a total of six Sasquatches and has camped in premiere five of those times, let me provide some info to your inquiry: - Free showers
- Sometimes a lot more room, sometimes not
- Honey Buckets that may or may not get used a bit less than in general
- A handful of flush Honey Buckets (not sure if they have the upscale buckets in general)
- A shuttle
- More cost

I've never done it, and I probably won't ever. Then why are you responding to a question about it? I actually hate when people do this.

Because she said premier was better than general and I took offence. If she only hears from people who like premier then she won't ever figure out that staying in general is worth trying once before going to fancy pants camping.

How can you take offense to something that you've never experienced?
Don't reply, I need not hear your unsubstantiated response.

I've done both over that last 5 or so years and am going premiere this year. Really the only differences are more room and free hot showers. I have never bothered with the shuttle and have never had a flushing thunder closet but I've always felt the festival did a pretty good job keeping those clean wherever you are camping. With regards to the party scene, you are free to wander wherever you want and party with anyone anywhere so I don't see a real issue there. We have always had a blast partying in premiere on Thursday night. As far as I know free coffee and doughnuts are in terrace camping and frankly I wouldn't want that stuff in the morning anyway.
But the best bit about premiere is that is so close to the "path of party" that leads to the amphitheater so I don't have to stumble over ditches and tent wires on my way back to district 9 at 1 or 2 in the morning.

I visited fancy pants camping once when friends were in there. None of what it offered seemed to be of any value to me. Obviously there are people that like it, and good on them. I was providing an alternate point of view, which the OP didn't even seem to consider. I still answered the original question, even though I've never actually stayed there.

I started in general camping in 2008 and have been in premier ever since. They used to advertise free coffee and pastries for premier back in like 2009 and 2010, but I never saw them handing anything out and it hasn't been listed as a perk of premier since then, now that's just a terrace camping thing. My friends and I aren't the party type, we're the 40 year olds in 20 something year old bodies that would rather get a good night of sleep than stay with all the noise makers in general.
Besides what other people have listed, I enjoy the fact that campsites are a lot more spread out in premier, which makes it easier to leave the campground in your car for a run across the river to Vantage for breakfast or supplies. Also makes it easier to locate your campsite on the way back in.
Only occasionally have I encountered a honey bucket in premier that was disgusting, and that was in 2009 when I found used condoms and syringes in a couple of them. Since then, it seems they've been better about cleaning them more regularly.

For what it is worth, I have never had trouble sleeping in general. I am so tired from being on my feet for 16 hours that I fall right asleep.

I wish I was lucky enough to have the ability to pass out like that. I'm an extremely light sleeper and at Sasquatch always have to use heavy duty earplugs to sleep, even in premier. I didn't have earplugs in 2008 when I was in general and I slept maybe 5 hours total the entire weekend.

When you say heavy duty earplugs do you mean the ones that are fitted to your ears? Those actually don't block sound as well as the foam ones. Earplugs have a rating in db which is the amount of sound they block. Find the ones with the highest number.
I'm lucky though, I can sleep in district 9 without plugs just fine.

Yeah, I eventually am just so tired that I sleep. I cannot wear earplugs because it freaks me out to put stuff inside of my ear. It does depend on where you are camped, too. If you are right next to a huge party tent or something it will be harder, I guess. But I think at this point in my life I could fall asleep basically anywhere if I am tired enough.

I enjoy premiere camping because of the availability of free hot showers ( I have never waited more than 5 minutes and I find it a good way to "reset" myself for the next round of awesomeness). The Thunder closets are cleaned more often as well.
The spaciousness of the sites is also great because there is less chance of people stumbling through your camp (the obnoxious/incoherent kind of stumbling which leads to falling on or through your tent). Personally I also feel there is less theft. Maybe it's because it's not as crowded so people are not wondering in and out of sites that are not theirs as much(I have a lot of friends who have been ripped off in District 9, although single day tickets could have also attributed to that... or just assholes).
Also, with the camping area being bigger it allows for the ability to walk to a party or to take some space and catch some sleep (I find it a bit quieter). For me however the best part is the shuttle as I have been going with my 2 kids and at 1 a.m. it's nice to catch a ride back to the campsite as they are usually pretty bagged from going so hard all day!
All that being said, if you have never done District 9 then you haven't had the full Sasquatch experience!

The ones I use are foam, and I called them heavy duty simply because they block out an incredible amount of noise. When I'm trying to sleep for a graveyard shift and my toddler is screaming in the living room, I put some of those in my ears and all I hear is the sound of my own breathing.
