With all these weekend 1 passes floating around I am half tempted to see if I can get the time off work. This isn't the shit my pants lineup that I thought would get me out there, but if tickets are easily available....
Yup, flying. And the flight I'm on still has room for about $250 return as of yesterday. It leaves Apr 10th around 11am from Bellingham and then return by about 8pm on Apr 15th.... that's like only 4 days vacation, I'm sure you could do it!!
I'm still waiting for Pea's EDM guide to Coachella 2013. I'm slowly, slowly, slowly, trying to give each act on the lineup an hour of my time, but I think I'm going to run out of time. Any extreme undercard recommendations are welcome.
Here are the acts I have little to no exposure to:
Kill The Noise Ladies Night White Arrows (I'm pretty sure I know this band from Sasquatch 2011?) Ghost (Coming up next) James McCartney Danny Avila Hanni El Khatib Joris Voorn Maya Jane Coles Dub Fx Julio Bashmore Mimosa Jamie Jones Jessie Ware The Faint La Roux Eric Prydz (I know of him, just never listened to him) Kids These Days 3BallMTY Cassy Savages Guards Action Bronson (Coming up next) Baauer Theopolis London (Coming up next) Pusha T The Selector Bingo Players 2Chainz (I hear he is famous) Fedde Le Grande (I listened to some of his stuff because he was on the 2011 lineup, but I don't recall anything about it) Cafe Tucaba Descendents (coming up next) Benny Benassi Knife Party Io Echo DJ Harvey Sparks Thomas Gold Modestep Nicky Romero Stars (only because I don't really like them)
Cool, I'll check out Julio Bashmore, Joris Voorn (I had him coming up next anyway because of his cool name) and Cassie. Like Empty said, Bauuer is at Sasquatch, so I'm not in a huge rush to listen to it.
More suggestions are welcome, because I think I have mostly electronic music left, and it's not my forte. I typically like older electronic dudes, but I did enjoy Unicorn Kid earlier today, even though he is 21 and has the stupidest fucking name of all-time. I like Nintendo.
The Faint might be a fun show. I loved them about 5 years ago then sort of forgot about them. Up until this year I really didn't even know they were still around. I have no clue what they are like live, but it they seem like they would be a good time.
Upon listening to these songs now, the lyrics are pretty lame, but it still makes me want to dance.
I'm pretty sure I've listened to the Faint a lot, maybe I've even seen them live, but they have such a generic name, I don't remember anything about them. My first Coachella, I downloaded pretty much every band on the lineup with my Zune Pass, but I later found out I ended up downloading a different band with the same name. It's a strange feeling wandering into the festival at 11:00 a.m. thinking you are about to hear a British punk band, but seeing a Japanese glam rock band instead.
