I wanna play! I bought this on casette with some birthday money. I was 7 years old and I had seen the 'You Can Call Me Al' music video like 200 times. I didn't even know it wasn't Chevy Chase actually singing the song. I thought Paul Simon was just the dude playing the instruments. After I bought the album, I sat my entire family in the living room, cranked the song up and lipsynced the song just as Chevy Chase had lipsynced in the video. I even mimicked every move he made in that ridiculous video. I bought this on cassette one summer when I was like 9 years old. It was right after I watched 'Rattle & Hum' for the first time. I have since purchased it three more times in different audio formats. At my school, anybody who was anybody bought this album. I have been known to bust out 'Ice Ice Baby' at karaoke from time to time. (see my facebook for further evidence) Do the Bartman. Nuff said. This might have actually been the first CD I ever bought. I don't know if I ever listened to any song other than 'Blaze of Glory.'

'House Me Teenage Rave' got me in deep shit with my parents. I loved this album so much. Me and my friends drew a comic strip series called "Toilet Man" that was heavily inspired by this album. I only became aware of it well after the fact and long after I had last listened to this glorious album, but Maynard James Keenan sang the "not by the hair of my chinny chin chin" part of Three Little Pigs. AWESOME!!! As I stated in my earlier post, Cereal Killer is the only album I currently don't posses. I base it solely on the fact that it was constantly being brought over to friends houses as the wealth needed to be shared. It definietly received the most airplay at that young stage of my life. LONG LIVE GREEN JELLO/JELLY!!!

"Crossroads" and "So Far So Good" were everywhere that Christmas. Grew up in California and was out visiting my Grandmother for Christmas in Rochester, NY. My cousin bought me Crossroad. I did one of those pretend to like it smiles. It wasn't until about 5 years later that I truly embraced the JOVI.

Ooh, this is fun! I definitely remember the first cassette I ever bought: I was totally krossed out! I'm sure there were a couple other cassettes in there but my mom had the best cassette collection and so I didn't really buy that much. My first two CDs were: and even better: Oh fuck yeah that's the Space Jam soundtrack motherfuckers. Then I just listened to this CD for about two years straight: I did Columbia House and bought about 10 CDs that I ended up having to give back 'cause I never paid them. These included Everclear - So Much For The Afterglow, Third Eye Blind, Jewel - Pieces of You, Usher and some others that I can't really remember. I'm sure they were awesome though!

My mom bought me the Space Jam soundtrack early on early on as well, and that Batman Forever soundtrack. I love that you couldn't get enough of Seal, Pea. I don't blame you, 'Kiss from a Rose' was a dope track.
And Stamper, one of my friends had that Simpsons Sing the Blues CD. I would always wear it out every time I was at his house, to the point where he stopped hanging out with me because he was tired of doin' the Bartman constantly. Then I could never find my own copy and I was a sad burrito.

Haha that song was the only reason I bought the soundtrack. I fucking loved Seal for some reason. I didn't even realize until a couple of years ago that the likes of Massive Attack and The Flaming Lips were on it as well.

While we're slightly going off-topic, my aunt bought me Will Smith's "Big Willie Style" for Christmas when I was 11. Her reasoning? "I know kids these days are into the hip-hop, so I wanted to get you something cool without a lot of swearing." Ohhhh family...

It's funny that I bought a lot of the same first albums as people who are years younger than me. I blame being poor and not having a CD player until long after they were common.

Canada gets everything a few years later anyway, right?

Also I'm surprised how many of us have almost identical first 5's. My list isn't interesting at all because every single one of my 5 has already appeared in this thread.

I fucking idolized Rob Thomas when that first Matchbox 20 album came out. I just thought he was the raddest dude on earth for some reason.
