This is exactly what happens every single time I listen to their albums. I get REALLY into a few of the songs, and then the rest do absolutely nothing for me. I think the good ones are enough to get me to their set, though.

I like them a lot and it is worth it just to watch the drummer do his thing. He has the wackiest drumming style I have ever seen.

He also makes the most ridiculous faces...man I haven't heard anything about them since I saw them at Subpop 20 in 08.

They're a local Portland band, and even Portlanders are over them. Last time I saw Helio Sequence was as the 'Celebrity Judge Panel' at the Red Bull Flugtag, like four years ago.

I like Helio Sequence, and they put on a pretty good show. they play as a two-piece, which leaves me wondering how much of what I'm hearing is a backing track being played off a laptop, but when they're rocking it I don't care. bottom line, they're good but not unmissable, and with the wealth of amazing music at this sasquatch there's a good chance I'll be elsewhere. Here We Go Magic has shot up to the top of my bands-I-never-listened-to-before-the-lineup-came-out-but-now-want-to-see list (it's getting long this year). their recordings are super trippy, but never seen them live. anybody else on here seen them?

I'm definitely with you and pea on this one as far as their albums go, but I saw them live a few years ago and they're live set is absolutely amazing! I was seriously blown away.

It's just fascinating to watch him. I was also at the Sub Pop 20th, which was a pretty awesome show. I remember Sam from Iron and Wine was wasted and he kept messing up his songs.

They closed a stage I was working at Bumbershoot a few years ago. Lots of people had laser hoola-hoops and glow sticks and I was like "Wtf? This band isn't even psychadelic". Also, the music sucked really bad.

Man I loved those two days. I'm not sure if Sam was drunk though I've seen him a few times and he gets the lyrics wrong or forget parts of songs ALL THE TIME.

He sure seemed drunk yet sounded flawless every time he sang.

I saw an interview of Sam Beam at some point during that day at SP20, and he was definitely drunk. I had forgot about SP20 but it was an awesome show. Hopefully Sub Pop does another for their 25th.

Name aside, I bet Sam Beam drinks a shitload of wine.

I reckon his diet is fairly high in iron, as well.

You've been here a month. You're a ways away from being able to point out behavioral patterns.
