I know that it wasn't very good, but who seriously thinks in their head, "Man, that Flaming Lips show will probably be boring. I'm going to go see Yeasayer instead!".

In all fairness the Flaming Lips' performance last year was sub-par, but their regular show is not to be missed. I'd see them over nearly any band in the world. Totally agree. I have seen them probably five other times, and each time was fantastic. The set at sasquatch last year was a hot mess.

MSTRKRFT>every other banana shack performance that weekend. Ehh I liked Major Lazer better. MSTRKRFT didn't play a single song of their own.

I wish I could remember this. I spent most of Sunday in the fetal position on the hill. I clearly remember hearing Buggin and Cowboy Dan though.

Haha, I might have had an "altered" opinion of the MSTRKRFT set, so that might have influenced things. Both were really great though.

I definitely have an altered opinion of that set, and it was by far my favorite (EDM set) of the weekend. Oh Lucy...

Glitch Mob/Sleigh Bells was the show stealer in the Shack!! Indeed I had fun at every late night shack show, but that 2.5 hour period was the highlight of my Sasquatch last year. Brought my cousin, a cancer survivor, to her first Sas and she LOVES to dance. She was putting on such a show the crowd opened up to give her room and at the end some huge dude hoisted her up on his shoulders for the duration of the set.
She is a very small, kind of fragile, shy, quiet person. She had never been to anything remotely like Sasquatch, she really blossomed there. If at any point you heard a tiny person scream 'THE DANCE TENT IS GOD' It may well have been her.

This guy. Who the fuck wants Teletubbies? What in THE FUCK? When Wayne moved to Hollywood he had to go door-to-door to tell everyone he was a pederast.
I was extremely curious over what to expect from a much hyped Flaming Lips show. I have many festival going friends who said they were soooo cool. Despite frequent attempts to enjoy their music I couldn't help but hate it. Maybe its Wayne's voice and his lyrics. Instrumentally I enjoyed much of it, but I can't get past the rest.
Ayone ever watch Sealab 2021? Where they have the bizarro episode? I think the Flaming Lips are Pink Floyd's bizarro..

I saw MSTRKRFT at Pemberton Festival and they were fantastic. They tore through their set and EVERYONE was digging it. Great remixes etc., and I believe quite a bit of their own stuff. They drank a 2'6 of JD and smoked probably 2 packs of cigarettes each chain-style over the course of their set.
That being said, I think Glitch Mob and Sleigh Bells stole the show in the Banana Hammock last year. I was there for parts of MSTRKRFT and it was somewhat underwhelming for some reason. Still haven't been able to figure out why.
I remember looking up when Glitch Mob's set was winding up and seeing some guys working on the scaffolding behind them and thinking "oh, they're prepping it for the next band," then I see a chick in her underwear walk out, climb a sheet they had attached (a la Cirque du Soleil) and start doing some acrobatics after they lifted the scaffolding back up to the rafters. She would lock her knees in the sheet and drop her whole body when the drop in the song came. I thought she was gonna fall and split her head open, I was losing it haha. Perfect timing though, right as their set peaked, it took it right over the edge. Major Lazer were also IMO better than MSTRKRFT.

Looking behind us as Sleigh Bells took the stage and seeing an ocean of heads was cool. Loved their Iron Man opening. I sucked down my entire camel pack during those 2 sets, we didn't leave once. I was in such a fucking daze after it was all over. Parts of my brain are still floating around in there somewhere. I was like a marionette puppet with Glitch mob pulling the strings.

I really like Sleigh Bells, but live they are just alright. I didn't catch Glitch Mob though, weren't they against Matt & Kim or Robyn? Pretty sure that's why I missed them.
