I didn't realize we had Skrillex haters on this board. I thought that was a Coachella board thing.

it says nothing. there is no . but i'm considering one. maybe something like "WHY ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT HIM?" Because like it or not he's become one of the most relevent recording artists on earth over the past year. 12 months ago he opened for deadmau5 in front of about 100 people just standing around with no idea who he was. Last week he sold out a 7000 capacity venue in the same city. I think that's why people are still talking about him.

What is that whole "Queue for Mod approval" crapolla. They took almost 2 weeks to approve me last year. Sucked because I was desperate to find housing for myself for the weekend and just wanted to respond to some offers. I ended up with about 4 user names in queue because I didn't know what the hell was going on.

Why would you have to be "approved" by a Mod?

I have a feeling Skrillex and Foster the People might both be back next year.

Most EDM performances aren't much more than a glorified, like, Lazer Floyd production at your local Planeh-arium. I wouldn't call Skrillex 'one of the most relevant recording artists on earth', not even close. His recorded material -- his material in general -- is NOT the reason he's gotten so huge. His popularity increased exponentially when he got himself one of those fancy toys like Deadmau5 has. That's what people come out to see. That is why people care. Kids get themselves allllll fucked up, go look at the flashing lights, and then come out of it thinking HO SHIT SKRILLEX, DOGG. I've said it before: I don't really even regard it as music. Certainly not a musical performance. Just a fancy-dancy light show. Planeh-arium

I was under the impression it was the other way around for him, that he didn't start toting around an expensive light show until after he got huge. And what a cool light show it was. It was based on the geometric shape, the sextagon, and it was one of the cooler light shows I've seen (maybe just because of the Geometry). And this coming from one of the few in attendance not high on drugs. I suppose actual math equations would have blown my mind, but it was still impressive.

HG, I think what you're saying is close to true but even at last years sasquatch when he was just pressing play on a macbook people were going apeshit for him. The new light show definitely made his audience grow exponentially but I also know way too many people who think his music is sick

Yeah I gotta agree with know and cbats. While the light show might make more people come to his live show, it certainly isn't the main reason for his popularity. Light shows are a huge part of EDM shows but if people don't like the music they still won't go.l

His tour was already sold out and he was adding additional dates before he even debuted his visual display. I didn't even know he was touring with that thing until the week of his show.
