If you like Final Fantasy Soundtracks, I strongly encourage you to track down Final Fantasy IV: Celtic Moon which is one of my favorite interpretations of that game's excellent music. I'll post more suggestions as time goes on - I have a large collection of video game soundtracks I've bought over the years. Also, if you have a chance to see this tour when it's in your town, DO IT. It's worth every penny. www.videogameslive.com/index.php?s=dates

It's been through Calgary 3 or 4 times; seen it twice. It evolves as time goes on and new games come out. The first time I went in Calgary they played One Winged Angel with Jack Wall conducting and Tommy Tallerico playing electric guitar along with the local pro orchestra. Mindblowing.

My friend Dan makes 8-bit music. He records under the name The Sticky Situation. He's the same kind of dork as you.

I was just thinking about doing a thread like this the other day. All the Banjo-Kazooie stuff has a lot of cool chromatic and tritone stuff. For that matter, I haven't played a game that's Rare down where I haven't completely loved the music. I'm not sure if they use the same composer(s) often or not, but the music has always been consistently good. And on the note of 8-bit music, everybody check out my good friend and amazing musician Nick Jenkins (under the name Mr. Jenkins). He released a really sweet 8-bit album called "8 Bits + Pieces" mrjenkins.bandcamp.com/album/8-bits-pieces

Oh yeah lumps I tore my house apart looking for that Conker cartridge and I can't find it anywhere. I can't even find my N64, and I'm pretty sure the cartridge is still in the machine.

I pretty much only listened to Transmissions From the Satellite Heart when I was playing Banjo Kazooie.

I pretty much only listened to Transmissions From the Satellite Heart when I was playing Banjo Kazooie. If you every find your N64 and happen to own Banjo Kazooie, do yourself a favor and play it with the music going. Though, I totally understand listening to other music with other games. Back in the days of playing the first Tony Hawk, I could only deal with the same six songs playing on loop for so long.

I spent more time playing Tony Hawk 2 than probably any other game ever made. Soundtrack to that one was Ween's GodWeenSatan: The Oneness and Insane Clown Posse's double album masterpiece Bizarre/Bazaar.
...don't ask.

Yeah though I always have real music on when I play video games unless there is dialog involved that is important to game play. Frankly game music just irritates me (with the exception of Earthbound).

You're missing out on a lot of great music then. Especially from the Final Fantasy series.
