10 months out and I'm already freaking out about how I'm going to get there and where I'm going to sleep at night...

Last year I flew into LAX and rented a car. I assume I will be doing the same, so I'm sure there will be room if anyone needs a ride.

10 months out and I'm already freaking out about how I'm going to get there and where I'm going to sleep at night... Don't worry about it, I'm likely going solo again, so I can always pick up people at the airport if they fly in at a reasonable hour. I'm just saying if three people who want to camp with us are looking for a ride, it might be best for those three to split a rental car three ways, so we aren't trying to fit 13 people in three spots. The spots are 10x30, which somehow manages to be smaller than the studio I lived in when I first moved to downtown Portland, and that studio was TINY.

One thing I like about going to Coachella is that I feel less inclined to bring anything other than the bare essentials with me. No need for my silly Sasquatch campsite decorations with all of the other eye candy and entertainment in the Coachella campground.

All I brought was a tent and a sleeping bag, worked out pretty well for me. Picked up a cooler and some snacks at the wal mart and I was good to go. The food options are about 1000 times better than at sasquatch and pretty reasonably priced.
The only thing I would add for this year is a canopy. It got pretty effing hot pretty effing quick. At 8 or 9 am it got too hot to stay in the tent, so we would crawl under our neighbors canopy for a couple more hours sleep. It was so awesome.
Edit: who else got a camping pass? I picked up one, but I am also heading down with a group of at least 6.

I picked up one, but I am also heading down with a group of at least 6. Yeah, I brought way too much shit this year, not knowing what to expect. That is why I'm 98% sure I will fly this year and rent a car. I can survive on basically nothing at Coachella, other than a tent and sleeping bag. The shade was the biggest reason I asked about any locals going. If this camping thing is going to happen, we should keep a roll call of who is bringing cars, chairs, and shade, so those wanting a ride know who to contact. This list will be much more comprehensive in about six months, but for those freeking out about rides, this is what I've gathered: Car Camping passes: wompwomp knowidyuh Stamper/Cat? Cars: wompwomp knowidyuh Stamper/Cat Chairs: Shade: We should keep this updated as we go, including which airport everyone is flying into. We should all assume we will get to the campground Thursday evening, unless anyone is against that proposition.

At this particular time, I'm planning on flying in and renting a camper van in LA then driving the rest of the way there (with Chaco of course). This could EASILY change, but we could totally hang around LAX if a few people fly into there then all party/carpool down to Indio. I believe Chaco and I are getting a car camping pass. Should be ordering it on Friday after i get paid

Head in Thursday evening for sure.
The Wal-Mart in Palm Springs was where I met my crew this year, I would suggest it as a meeting spot again.
Ha ha, jeez this thing is 10 months away...I guess you can't be too prepared eh?

I'm going to be buying car camping on thursday and me and my boyfriend will be driving down. I'm hoping to buy a canopy in the next few months 'cause I got lots of camping to do this summer! I'm not certain if it's just going to be us two, but if so we'll have lots of room for extra chairs if people want us to pick some up for them!

Since I've already sworn on Sasquatch next year, papa can't afford 2 west coast trips. Maybe 2013.

I have a canopy I will be bringing in my luggage if I fly which is most likely happening at this point as I am going by myself unless anyone from here wants to road trip from WA.

God damnit. If I could somehow magically get enough vacation time to do that I would be all for a Pea/Lahey roadtrip, but I know I can't pull those strings.

Looks like it may very well be a party at Sea-Tac.

We're fucking going. I don't know how just yet, but we're fucking going. Ten months is way more than enough time to work it out.
