Pearl Jam makes sense as a Sasquatch headliner. Tool, not so much. I just don't see them fitting in with the Sasquatch "brand".
I'd also like to see Beck, Wilco or MMJ as headliners.
As for the undercard, I think we can bet on Neko Case, Blitzen Trapper, and maybe the Henry Clay People. I'd adore seeing Beirut again, hoping for The Acorn, Plants and Animals, certainly Fleet Foxes, maybe Bon Iver if we're lucky...

for a festival that wants to elevate itself to a place among the major festivals, sasquatch is amazingly lame about information. it's like pulling teeth just to determine the festival dates, let alone any lineup info which is non-existant. does anyone even give a shit about sasquatch?

saxtacy, welcome to the board.
So yes, in my opinion, Sasquatch is trying to elevate itself to a place among the elite US festivals. Last year was their second three day festival, so they are at least attempting to compete with the others. In 2005, it was only one day.
This festival is young compared to the others, and does not have the history like Coachella and Bonnaroo, and is not located in a major city, like Lollapalooza, and the recently moved Langerado. The festivals in Austin have both history and major city support.
One thing Sasquatch has that the other festivals do not is the isolated scenery. You won't meet a Sasquatch attendee that complains about the venue, because I have only heard of one venue that compares in the US, that being Red Rocks.
This is also a new website. Last year when I was looking for lineup rumors and what not, the thread on the Coachella board was basically the official Sasquatch site. Now, we have our own, and no, I am not a moderator, nor do I know any of them.
Like I said in the first post on this thread, the lineup rumors will start to blow up in January, when bands start announcing their spring tours, and festival lineups start getting announced. There is really no evidence that anyone or no one will attend this year, other than the speculation that a few of us have mentioned.
As for the dates, it has always been Memorial Weekend, so you can plan on that. The only question about the dates is which days of Memorial Weekend the festival will be held, and if it will be one, two, or three days. It is a 98 per cent guarantee that it will be the Saturday and Sunday of said weekend. If it is a three day fest, it will likely include Monday, Memorial day, as it did last year. The only other time it was three days, the extra day was Friday, and it was an abbreviated day, basically because NIN, Bauhaus, and TV on the Radio were touring, and that was the only day they could confirm. So they added Wolfmother, HIM, and a couple others to that day.
Again, welcome to the board. I hope you can make it, because a festival at the Gorge is basically one of the best weekends anyone can have.

I would love it if Kings of Leon were there, I have fallen in love!!
I would also love it if the Kooks came back as well as Rogue Wave. I can't wait to start guessing who will be there come Jan. When do they announce the lineup again?

All females love the Kings, especially "Your Sex is on Fire." If I recall correctly from last spring (recalling your avatar), you are female. I wouldn't mind seeing them again, they were decent live. I would also like to second the Bon Iver mention earlier. And Fleet Foxes have to be there.
As for the lineup, trying to dive back into the memory bank again, I think they announce it the Monday closest to the middle of February, or the second Monday in February. Tickets usually go on sale the first weekend of March.

I think the ability to keep the majority of the lineup so under wraps is a strength of Sasquatch. Last year we had all pretty well guessed that R.E.M/Modest Mouse tour would hit and the Cure had been announced in like November because of the previously canceled tour but outside of that it was mostly a suprise. I was dumbfounded when i saw the F lamming Lips show up on the line up. I was not expecting that at all;.

I would love to see Kings of Leon... as long as they promised not to play anything from the last album. Major disapointment! Pearl Jam would be a dream come true though. Blitzen Trapper, Fleet Foxes are locks. Tenacious D would be cool so long as they don't do the mainstage... like Flight of the Concords. Was I the only one who thought that ruined the flow of that entire day? Should NOT have been mainstage.

I don't think the Flights ruined the flow, they played after Rodrigo Y Gabriela, so it was a back to back acoustic set before the insanity of the Mars Volta and Flaming Lips. All is calm before the storm.
I'm guessing that Tenacious D is big enough to play a similar role, possibly playing before or after someone like Jose Gonzalez, prior to the sub-headliner.
Morrissey will be in Europe during the festival. So no Morrissey, no Smiths.
Rumor has it that Weezer might tour with Oasis in the Spring. I could see Oasis as a Sasquatch headliner, and Weezer playing before them. I won't root for it, but it wouldn't be terrible.

I would be very happy if Oasis was to headline one night with Weezer opening for them. I got out to see Oasis this summer in Calgary, mostly because my wife is a fan. Myself like a lot of others, hadn't really followed Oasis that closely since their first 3 albums. But once I got the tixs for the show, I went out and found all their albums since then.......and was pleasantly surprised. The show itself was excellent! I walked out of there loving Oasis. I thought they put on a pretty damn good show.
I enjoy Weezer quite a bit too, but I just don't think they're big enough to headline one night themselves. So I hope this does work out, and they end up playing together the same night.

First, GET THESE BANDS to REUNITE and come to Sasquatch (!):
My Bloody Valentine Catherine Wheel Swervedriver - or get Adam Franklin, at least! Electrelane - I thought they were great in 07 Soundgarden !
BRING THESE BANDS BACK: The National - fantastic at the small stage last year! Arcade Fire - one of the best bands I've seen in the last ten years! The Kooks - bring them back! Ghostland Observatory - should be an annual Sasquatch tradition! Fleet Foxes - seeing them twice in one day in 08 was fantastic! Battles - amazing group! Black Angels - one of the best I saw at Sasquatch in 07! The Helio Sequence - another of 07's best!
Recruit some of these artists:
Radiohead - would make an ideal headliner Wilco - another headliner The Verve Portishead Robert Pollard - would be good on the middle stage The Shins - almost big enough to headline? Elbow Belle and Sebastian - please? They'd be great! Mogwai Electric Six - talk about fun!!! Sparklehorse Foals - some of the best math rock in the world! Brian Jonestown Massacre - if Anton could maintain long enough to perform MGMT - great new artist Lambchop - pretty mellow Sun Kil Moon - might also be a bit mellow, but what great music! The Wedding Present Low Film School Secret Machines
Plus add in all those great new artists I haven't heard of yet each year, but become a big fan of after seeing them!
I went to the festival in 07 and 08, and can't wait until 09!!!

Could surely see the Oasis / Weezer double bill making sense for one night.
KOL / Wilco a second night would make sense
What about a Jane's Addiction for night 3 with the L.A. club shows happening the original 4 seem likely to hit the road.
Or White Stripes?
Other Acts (likely and/or hope) PJ Harvey Tragically Hip QOTSA Massive Attack Yeah Yeah Yeahs Arctic Monkeys The Hold Steady Gutter Twins Everest Bon Iver Tv On The Radio Fleet Foxes Broken Social Scene Black Mountain Gaslight Anthem Carl Newman Sam Roberts

I like the Broken Social Scene prediction. They seem to be making the rounds at the festivals the last couple years, including Langerado next year in March. I have been to the last four Sasquatch festivals, and they have not been in the lineup, and there are always so many Canadians there.
So here is me putting way too much thought into why they should be there. They are playing three shows in the NW in early February. Bands obviously don't want to announce they will be playing a nearby festival for fear that people will skip their small shows knowing they can see the band basically for free at the festival. Sasquatch typically announces it's lineup about a week after their NW tour ends. And they have to love Canadians, right?
Note to band, I will delete this rumor if you send me a provocative picture of Amy (she can be fully clothed, I am not that dirty) and a picture of Brendan sniffing glue (he doesn't actually have to be sniffing it, just make it look real).

I'll always be happy to see the Flaming Lips there.
I'm hoping for -
- The Chemical Brothers - Fleet Foxes (I'm guessing they're a given considering the elevation of popularity) - Iron And Wine - Jandek (That would blow my mind but this is a fantasy list right?) - The Mountain Goats - Nick Cave - Sigur Ros - Sufjan Stevens - Tenacious D (I'm thinking they're also going to almost definitely going to make the cut) - Cotton Jones Basket Ride - Black Moth Super Rainbow - Animal Collective - Conor Oberst / Bright Eyes - Daft Punk - Robyn Hitchcock
OK, this is silly. I could name bands till I turn blue.

Looking at album release dates for 2009 some possibilities include Andrew Bird , Franz Ferdinand, Lily allen , The Decemberists, Depeche Mode , Built to Spill , Wilco , Stars , Massive Attack. Personally I would like to see The National (missed them this year), Fleet Foxes ( headling the smaller stage every night!), Band of Horses ( working on new album) , Kings of Leon , MMJ , and MGMT. Unlikely ,but would be awesome , Pearl Jam , Bruce Springsteen or Arcade Fire .
