What I love about Napoleon Skywalker is how they have "fuzed" their style together.

Seattle weekly and The Stranger's blogs both posted stuff about it. Basically attendence is way down so they need to reposition it as a 25-30k festival rather than the 40-50k they used to get. The coliseum is really expensive and holds about 22k people while key arena holds 14k. They claim that most shows at the coliseum were only getting about 15k people so this won't disenfranchise that many people overall. They're also repositioning it so that they won't be getting headliners that are as big. On one hand this is a bummer because they won't get the Bob Dylans and Kanye Wests of the world but on the other hand they also won't be getting the Black Eyed Peas and Katy Perry's of the world. I think it's actually a smart move overall. The part that excites me most is that Decibal festival is now curating the Sky Church stage. That should lead to some really cool artists playing in one of the coolest rooms in Seattle If by "coliseum" you mean "Memorial Stadium" then I hear that. It's going to be a cluster fuck at the Key, but oh well. Hopefully they do the token/wristband thing like they've done in the past. Or, firstly I should say, hopefully they grab some good enough names that I want to go. Then I'll worry about getting in. Also, as a side note, I remember seeing the Black Eyed Peas perform at Bumbershoot in the Key Arena in... 2001? It was way before they sucked. And it was awesome. But yeah, they're absolutely dreadful now, so no thanks.

Sled Island just announced the first six bands for this years festival:
Dandy Warhols / The Buzzcocks / Blonde Redhead / Of Montreal / Chad Vangaalen / The Greenhornes
They are announcing another 100 bands on April 1.
Not as stellar as I had initially hoped but seeing Dandy Warhols again will be awesome, and Of Montreal put on a great show. I'm still gonna pick up the 4 day pass. At $145.00 that's not too bad.

Sounds like a pretty good start to me! I guess that with some of the rumors it was a bit of a surprise. Isn't that always the case though? I bought the pass and have started listening to some of the announced artists and Blond Redhead sound pretty cool, as do The Greenhornes. Blonde Redhead sound a lot like Kim Gordon sung Sonic Youth songs, which is not a bad thing. Looking forward to the festival regardless.

The number one thing there that jumps out at me is Taking Back Sunday, just because John Nolan is with them again and god knows I'd love to see a performance of "Tell All Your Friends."

Guess what jumps out to me? But seriously, they're apparently playing OOS tracks.. I'm not sure if they're doing all of it or what, but as long as it's more than the 4 mediocre ones they play constantly, Muse fans all over will lose it.

Musers! Nice.
Seriously though, whenever I talk down about how overcrowded festivals can get and how shitty festival goers can be, I am 99% talking about Reading Festival. Let's get one thing straight: I've been three times and I've had some wicked times seeing some wicked bands with some wicked people, but the conditions there are the absolute antithesis of Sasquatch. I'll take my mediocre headliners with my beautiful, spacious vistas any day.

A guy tried having a legitimate conversation with me a few months ago about how incredible BMTH was. Since I was drunk, it didn't go over very well for him.

That Friday night line-up is terrible compared to the rest of the weekend. Looks like some sort of shitty local fair line up than a Reading or Leeds. I wouldn't watch 90% of those bands for free if they were playing in the field across from my house.

I've seen BMTH twice. I hate them so much but they've opened for other bands I wanted to see.
They were awful both times.

Their singer is probably the worst thing to ever happen to death metal.

earthboundproductions.org/Love Your Mother Earth Festival is a Missoula festival with many local artists, and hasn't been around too long. Nothing too big, but looks pretty cool. Waiting for some updated info. Posted last years info, this years should be a little better. Many kinds of music. All night electronic music. This will be my first year going.

Saw a Wakarusa flyer in a coffee shop here today. Made me laugh.

I wouldn't watch 90% of those bands for free if they were playing in the field across from my house. When they say "many many more acts to be announced" they mean it. That festival has 6-7 stages full of music everyday. I agree that the announced names aren't much compared to the other days, but there is still much hope for the undercard. EDIT: Okay, just realized that it is mentioned: there are in fact 7 stages. The text on the posters for the last stage is always so small it is hard to read.

After the recent additions (most notably Guided By Voices), I might just have to go to Pitchcock this year

, if you want a ticket for face, PM me. One extra. New additions are pretty awesome, especially GBV (hope they get a better slot than they will at Sasquatch), Neko Case, Kurt Vile, Baths, How to Dress Well
