I spent a couple weeks in Tennessee a few summers ago and could barely spend 20 minutes outside before my entire body and clothes were drenched in sweat. Yea, Bonnaroo will never happen for me. Coachella showed me that it isn't the heat that ruins me, but the humidity. Bonnaroo is definitely a different beast altogether. I had no problem at coachella this year, but Roo last year completely decimated me. I thought I was prepared for it, but it was worse than anything I could even imagine. It's brutal. I didn't have an awesome time at roo, but that was because of some extraneous factors, so I kind of want to give it another chance.

I'm not sure if I've posted this publicly, but I'm in for Bonnaroo next year. I've done Sasquatch, Coachella, ACL, and Lollapalooza, so Bonnaroo is the one of the big five (according to my definition) I haven't attended. SxSW?

One year I'd really like to make the trip directly from Sasquatch to Bonnaroo. It'd be a cool trip to drive across the US, and you'd have plenty of time to do it. I almost did it this year, but I need a more reliable car.

My definition includes the term self-contained, with a little bit of history. I've never considered SXSW, because you literally can't see the bands you want to see. A friend of mine went last year, and he couldn't name a band he wanted to see that he actually saw. He could name several bands he couldn't get into the venue for. Everyone freeked out about the DFA reunion, and the riot, but the only reason they rioted is because 2,000 people wanted to see them at a 200 capacity venue.

SXSW sounds fucking horrible. I hate that format of "music festivals."

Yeah I've never had any desire to go to sxsw either. If you just look at the lineup, its definitely a major festival, but I like know's "self-contained" qualification.

I've never done Rifflandia (in Victoria) before but this year looks like it's making some significant improvements. 2011beta.rifflandia.com/ It's usually a many venues with one wristband festival, so blech, but this year it's added a park stage at a local athletic park. They announced the first headliners on the park stage today and I think it's going to be pretty fun 'round those parts! "City and Colour, Broken Social Scene, De La Soul, Blackalicious, Ra Ra Riot, The Cave Singers, USS, Awolnation, Felix Cartal, The Knocks and many more..."

Vegoose. RIP.
Look at the 2007 line-up. Then look at how much it cost. Finally, realise that nearly everyone at the festival wore costumes as it was during Halloween weekend. Daft Punk.
