Went to my first MLS game last night!
Whitecaps vs NE Revolution. The referee stole the game frrom the fans. 3 red cards and a bunch of yellows that were completely uncalled for.
That being said, the atmosphere was great. I enjoy the intimacy of the pitch (unlike BC Place) and the crowd was great. Hope it keeps up.
I'll be back for more!
P.S. was able to get scalped tickets far below face. In case any of you Vancouverites were planning a trip out there, I would recommend this option, instead of paying the ridiculous Ticketasster surchages

That game looked fucking insane from the highlights I watched. The ref was a total douche but the players were definitely playing rough. And come on, throwing your jersey into the crowd? How amateur. That was a great PK though!

That was a great PK though! Yeah, That Hassli character is already drawing some ire from the fans. He's our designated player and he is already received his second red card, what, 5 games into the season? Take note, Pea - Baldomero Toledo. If he is your referee at any games, be prepared to verbally spout your frustrations for 90+ minutes in his direction. I knew it was going to be a excessively reffed game 5 minutes in when one of our guys received a yellow for a perfect 1-footed side tackle that got all ball.

I know him. He's fucked over just about every team at some point. There are very few decent refs in this league, unfortunately.

I watched the Whitecaps game at home, and yes it was a rough game, but holy shit did that ref suck. I was amazed by our ability to hold the the score 1-0 for so long. I had to leave after the second red card while we still had the lead and only heard later that it ended in a 1-1 draw. Not too bad all things considered.
I definitely need to hit up some more games. A friend works for BC Soccer and frequently has access to tickets. Between him and low balling scalpers I hope to attend many games this summer!

THUGS! THUUUUUUUUUUGS! GOD DAMN THUGS!Not sure what point you're trying to make with that one... That injury is fucking devastating and couldn't have happened to a less deserving player. Zakuani is pure class and one of the best up and coming soccer players in the US. I've been sort of a wreck about the entire situation all weekend. God I hope his recovery is smooth and speedy.

I'm really conflicted on penalties. Sometimes I just feel like its ultimately not a legitimate way to get a goal, especially if said foul was incidental.

Especially after last weeks game. Which was awesome. I don't know why we didn't take any momentum away from that one. Aren't we historically good at DC, too?

We've NEVER lost in DC. They are such a shit team. We looked like garbage today. I wish I could be more constrictive but I'm pretty drunk and pissed.

Where is all the Sounders chatter?
Long story short, Portland went to Seattle last weekend, and managed a 1-1 tie. How embarrassing for the Sounders. They can't even beat an expansion team at home? So the Sounders coach made an excuse, saying the rainy conditions favored Portland's team. This lead the Timbers coach to make a couple sig worthy quotes:
”If it’s too wet up there for them to play soccer they might want to move that franchise, because it pisses down rain nearly every time I’ve been in Seattle.”
and...
“Next time we go up there we’re going to take plenty of towels for them so we can dry the field off before the game. And maybe we’ll take plenty of tissue paper so they can dry their eyes after the game.”
