These are a little spendy but pretty cool to have if you camp a lot. It's called a Jet boil, It boils water with a small propane tank pretty fast. It comes with a stand, igniter, cup, and propane tank and it all compacts into about the size of a football. We use these to boil water in the morning and put that starbucks via coffee into. Pretty good coffee in about two minutes. you can also make instant soup really easily. A great way to make quick hot meals without having to break out the camp stove.

Jetboil=survival. Best camping tool since the...tent.

This is my 6th sasquatch but I'm a festival camping virgin. So I am appreciating the advice here. (loooooooters will be shot) When I go into the festival I take a soft-sided cooler. They have never hassled me about it. It is a little bit of a pain to drag around, but having ice later in the day for water or for special mixed drinks is so damn nice. I think it is a necessity.

I bought my tent today.. and I want to set it up but I have no where to do so. Very sad. But it's lovely!

You live in Alberta, there are literally hundreds of thousands of square kilometers for you to set that up.

I know this is a ltiile late, but I wanted to address the Canada/US purchases thing. Things usually cost less down here because we have a different tax structure. Parts are included, but not nearly as much as yours. You would be better off buying supplies in Seattle of Spokane. Don't wait until Moses Lake, because you get into the small town pricing issues.
Whoever said don't bring anything you wouldn't be crushed if it was stolen is right on. No one wants their stuff touched, but there are dirt bags everwhere. If you see someone in a tent that doesn't belong, report them and get them out of there, but be prepared to lose some things.
The weird thing is I leave things out at the concert on the hill and it never gets touched. sometimes it is a few hours before i get back, but no on e knows who around my stuff might be with me. At the campground though too many times people are pretty isolated so it is easier for them to break into things.

Last year we had alot of problems with people stealing shit from the bus (mostly booze and ipods) we caught one person but the gorgees did nothing except warn them that they might get in trouble if they are caught again. this year we are considering saran wrapping any thiefs we catch to full trash cans or porta-potties with a sign on them explaining how they earned the punishment they had recieved. think anyone would have a problem with that?

Sounds like you need some kind of lockbox or safe in that beast...

If you can find this, it was one of my favorite things we had at our site last year. Granted, we borrowed it from my Aunt and Uncle who live in Yakima and are avid outdoorsy types. It looks a tad dated and I have no idea where they got it, but this table was brilliant and totally helpful. It was stable and we drank, snacked, played cards, and hung out with other people with it. When we were done, it folded up and had handles on it. It looked like a bright, blue, plastic briefcase. I hope to either find one for myself of borrow it from the family again.

Yes! We totally brought one of those last year as well. I'm not sure where it came from, though...

Yeah, I'm gonna have to get my hands on one of those, because if we go to Bonnaroo this year, I'll want that at our site. If you figure out where you got it and perhaps how much you shelled out for it, let me know!

Yeah, I think ours ended up being semi broken by the end of the weekend. And we left behind the part that would have made us able to put the umbrella in for shade.

Yowza that's expensive. $50 ain't bad, but $40+ for shipping? Crappy Tire must have something similar that won't cost $40 to ship...

that table set was awesome!... a good addition for it would be some type of cushion padding on the seats... that hard plastic got a little uncomfortable after like 15 minutes.

And if you can somehow manage to not break it, Canadian Tire pretty much always accepts returns. We bought a ski rack for a snowboarding trip through BC last year and returned it a few weeks later.
