That Hangout lineup bums me the fuck out. Also remembering the Julysquatch lineup kills me. Last year was the worst year for the dance tent no doubt. I'd love for Zacks to get Jon Hopkins, Oneohtrix and Audion back. Hell, Tchami, RL Grime or Duke Dumont. Last year was just such a bummer in comparison to Gesaffelstein and Boys Noize the year prior.

Nice! I haven't had a chance to see them yet. Only listened to their album a few times when it was streaming pre-release but I remember liking it. I am assuming you saw their live show unless you were just chillin' with them randomly. Good live show? Saw them in my college town in one of the best venues for pure sound you can get in WA, and they were fucking amazing. They're SO FUCKING LOUD AND HEAVY. They really create a full experience and do some interesting rearranging from their album.

Hung out with the dudes from Viet Cong a few weeks back, they're going to be on the lineup (with a new name, of course).

I find Gogol to be a gimmick. They play crappy eastern euro folk rock and run around like a bunch of idiots yelling into microphones. Nothing about their sound or their schtick appeals to me. I've actually seen them three times now, and the past two times I've walked away. Just don't get it. Too each their own, however. I have always felt this way about them as well. I haven't seen them live though. A good chunk of my friend group rave about Gogol but I can never make it through more than a couple of songs. I would check them out live still. I would check pretty much any band out live at least once. I'm not a Gogol fan, album-wise. But I'll be damned if they don't put on a hell-of-a-show. Like watching SBTRKT was incredible, even though I thought his last album was trash. Just seeing a guy run around the stage layering with an insane amount of equipment was awe-inspiring.

.... 10. Mo And the sets I had to walk away from in disgust: Gogol Bordello and Mother Mother Interesting taste, fellar. Mo was easily my least favorite show of the weekend. Made me just wish Grimes' sound worked a couple years ago even more.

Hot Chip was absolutely worth it. I saw some Glitch Mob for a couple songs and was worried that I was a little too strong in convincing my whole camp group (20 people) to meet up early to get close for Hot Chip. But boy, after the first song I was absolutely vindicated. The whole crew hugged me hahaha. Hot Chip was THE dance/electronic show for me this year. Still bummed about how lame the dance tent was. Glitch Mob wasn't bad and Aluna killed it. Kaytranada was really fun. But fuck were the bros annoying and Rustie boring.

Kendrick was great, but not as great as leaving early and being in the mid-front for the best dance session of the weekend at Hot Chip.

This is really interesting to me because I feel like "I Love You Honey Bear" is J. Tillman reining it in. The drums are so much more present and he craftily writes these hyper-self-aware love songs. "The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartment" is such a fun song lyrically. I really appreciate the external stuff about the album too. I think he's abandoning the idea that in this Western, voyueristic society, it's impossible to remove the image and concept of the artist from the artifact itself. He's singing about real things in a way that allows you to relate to it but also mock or laugh at its absurdity.

And Led Zeppelin without Robert, is like saying, "I really like Ringo, George, and Paul. But that other guy, eh?" No it isn't. At all. And it's not like Plant 40 years later without Bonham and Page is otherworldly...

I just wish Flying Lotus was one of those Friday additions. I would forgive all of the "chillwave" instagram- -inspired electronic shit on this lineup if Zacks just gave me Flylo Layer 3... and Bjork...

I don't want to break my run (been going since '09) but this is the first year where I don't have "that one" artist I have been dying to see (09: Animal Collective 10: Massive Attack/LCD Soundsystem 11: Ratatat 12: James Murphy 13: Sigur Ros/Death Grips/John Talabot 14: Gesaffelstein). Unless that "& More" is nxtlvl (see: BJORK) I feel like I'm just sticking to tradition. No doubt fun and with great music, but not necessarily worth the price.
I hate to ask, but do any of y'all know when Pemberton is announced?

Hey, they have two great songs that sound identical exactly like The Lumineers , that's not bad!
