I got the keys today! Unfortunately that means I have less than a week to get everything else packed to move... but still, I got the keys today!

Yeah I saw it. I thought it was campy. I read the book but didn't love it. The movie was remarkably forgettable. I thought the book was quite interesting. It presents 2 possible explanations for what might have happened, one of which is implausible and the other of which leaves out a huge time gap. As a reader, your choice is: a) believe the fantastical version of the story b) believe the realistic version of the story and fill in the time gaps somehow c) decide there's yet a third, untold story. My thought is that if you accept option c) and think about the sort of stress that 200+ days at sea would induce on a person, that the other two make a lot more sense. The reason the fantastical version of the story exists is because the narrator cannot cope with reality. Even the realistic version is probably distorted in various ways. The other odd thing about the book / movie is the claims that it will 'make you believe in God'. It won't. But consider that claim in context, and it might lead you somewhere else on the spiritual plane not involving any of the various Gods that Pi is acquainted with.

No comment. This is one of those songs that if I hear it when I'm out at a bar I know it's time to go home. And I hear it far more often than you might suspect.

Has anyone else seen Life of Pi? I enjoyed the movie, but doubt I would have had I not already read the book. And it also fell a bit short of the book in my estimation.
Thoughts?

Worst case, sell it on craigslist or whatever. Believe it or not, some people will stay in a hotel 30-45 minutes away rather than camp, and they would possibly be interested in buying the pass.
Also, some people who are camping at Wildhorse might be interested in a parking pass if they don't want to take the shuttle or whatever it is Wildhorse does.
If you go this route, you'll probably have to sell it for less than face value, since there will be tons available at face value direct from Livenation.

J Dawg wins the internet. Has anybody looked at that guy's website? I could spend days on there. He hasn't even talked about board games here...that's how interesting he is. He can be interesting on the board and still have entire sections of his life that he doesn't have to tap. To be fair, I have talked about board games here. There's a thread for that around here somewhere. And thanks! I don't post on my blog as often as I used to (or on here for that matter), just too damn busy lately I guess.

None of you give a crap, but my loan was approved today (finally), which means I do in fact take possession of a condo next week. Now I get to shop for some additional furniture (going from 1 bed / 1 bath to 2 bed / 2 bath). Shax / Megatron, how firm do you like your mattress?

Curious what your thoughts are on this. I've given it a couple of listens over the past few weeks and for me the jury's still out.

I don't think I even have a list for 2012 yet. I'm usually a couple of years behind the times. Nevertheless, here's mine: deadmau5 - > Album Title Goes Here <BT - If the Stars are Eternal, so are You and IAnimal Collective - Centipede HzThe Chemical Brothers - Don't ThinkM. Ward - A Wasteland CompanionDiplo - Express YourselfModeselektor - Monkeytown Deluxe Tour EditionThe Modeselektor album is a stretch given that its initial release was in 2011 but it's new to me as of 2012 and the deluxe edition technically wasn't released until this March, so in my mind it qualifies. And it this point I can stand behind all of these choices.

I know you did, but you have to realize it's at least 12 hours out of the way (round trip) as compared to the snoozefest of I-15

And I will fully expect that if I provide the burritos, you will provide the brews. I'm even willing to up the ante and provide a range of burritos including what San Diego calls the California Burrito If you haven't experienced its awesomeness, all you need to know is that IT INCLUDES FRENCH FRIES IN THE BURRITO.

wow, that is awesome indeed. Who knew it was that easy to ascend to geno-hood. Although I feel I must warn you, San Diego burritos are best enjoyed when they are accompanied with an appropriate beverage. Corona will suffice, but Modelo Negra is the brew of choice.
