Dude, but everybody knows who Bon Iver is. Those albums blew up like crazy. Phoenix... less so. I'm not positive that I've ever heard a Bon Iver song on the radio but they STILL play 1901 and Listomania. Those songs were massive.

There's a shuttle but you have to walk to the back of the parking lot and then usually wait 10 minutes or so. It's not any faster than the walk back to normal camping but it has the added advantage of allowing you to collapse in the grass while you wait.

In that case, they could definitely headline the Sasquatch stage. Jack White played WAMU after Sasquatch last year. I'm gonna guess they won't headline though, you're exactly right that the majority of the crowd wouldn't be into them. That just makes me think again they'd be Bigfoot headliners. Nah, you don't pay that much money for a band to play the Bigfoot. They just wouldn't book them if they're not willing have them subheadline at a minimum.

damnit...Bjorrito beat me by enough to show how terrible I am at using html on this website...
On another note, I don't get how Phoenix is as big as they are either but they were essentially this big when they toured a few years back so this isn't a surprise. They sold out Madison Square Garden and had Daft Punk show up as special guests. Listomania and 1901 used to be played on Alt radio as much as Mumford gets played now. The only difference is that Mumford appeals to all demographics (well, Pop and Adult Alternative at least) and have sold a ton more records. Those markets don't matter at Sasquatch or Coachella so the size difference isn't nearly as big as it seems.

I hadn't even thought about My Bloody Valentine as a possible headliner. They're definitely a band that's always slipped under my radar mostly due to not having any new material since I was 7 years old back in 1991. This new record of theirs is brilliant. edit: I just noticed they're playing at El Corazon in Seattle next week, and that's a pretty small venue with a capacity nowhere near what previous Sasquatch headliners or even sub-headliners normally play to. Maybe a Bigfoot headlining slot? I had to look this up cause I knew it was bullshit but wanted to see what confused you. It's just a metal show on Valentine's Day. The last time MBV were in Seattle they played at Wamu Theater which is the type of venue that you would expect a headliner to play at. They would certainly not play on the Wookie. The problem is (as Wonk has argued a number of times) that they're probably not the best fit for Sasquatch. It would be unbelievably amazing for 1/4 of the attendees but the worst thing the rest of the audience has ever seen. They tend to end their show with a 30 minute noise rock freak out that is basically unlistenable without earplugs. I'd still love to see them their but Snacks tends to book headliners with broader appeal than that. I'm still pulling for them anyway.

Cool. Thanks Nick. Not able to make it back here until after 8:30 or so...and then I'll have to plow through fuckloads of strange drunk posts to see what I've missed. I don't envy that task

Does anyone know what time the lineup is set to be announced? After Built to Spill? Before? During? They usually do it right before the headliner. It's not exactly clear who's headlining yet so it's anyone's guess.

You'll like it a lot. I was just reading the Pitchfork review (I'm a cliche, deal with it) and they summed it up pretty well:

so you peeps are saying that even though it's premium camping they assign you spots? you can't just go pick a spot closest to the entrance as possible? As close to the entrance as possible isn't really going to put you that much closer to the venue. The hike from camping to the venue is a trek (albeit a fun trek) no matter where you are. The event is 1/4 the size of a festival the size of Coachella so even the worst spots aren't that far back. I've never done premier camping but I seem to remember there being a shuttle? I may be making that up but it's a possibility that it exists. Otherwise you're looking at a 10-15 minute walk to the venue.

It's all good, we'll discuss everything a billion times today Today is really the one day a year that any semblance of order is lost on the board and everyone goes a little insane. It's also my favorite day.

Awesome, thanks a ton Nick. Just a heads up, I remember Lahey worrying about his battery running out a lot so maybe charge your phone before you head over there. Word. I've got my charger with me so that's not an issue, I'll charge it before I head over there, and if you guys want me to stream the bands too I can see if I can't find any wall outlets between sets. It's completely unnecessary but I'd definitely watch them if you did stream...

Am I missing something? How can a band with no new material, 10 years after their only album HEADLINE festivals. I like The Postal Service, but talk about the shortest headlining set ever. I foresee a very MGMT-esque set. Huge crowd, people wait through a bunch of songs that they don't know, "Such Great Heights" comes on, the whole hill dances and smiles. End scene. I can't speak for everyone but basically all of my friends who went to high school in the early 2000's know that album like the back of their hand. I'm fairly confident that this was true at pretty much every high school in the Seattle area. Not saying they'll headline but people will know way more than just Such Great Heights.

Blue Hawaii - Untogether Retribution Gospel Choir - 3 (Has anyone else listened to this yet? I know there are a number of Low fans here who need to check it out. It took Alan Sparhawk three albums but he finally made the band sound like the psychedelic version of Low I always wanted them to be. Two 20 minute tracks that could easily go on twice as long.)
I'll probably add Frightened Rabbit relatively soon, I feel pretty much the same way Stamper does right now. Haven't had a chance to listen to MBV or Foals yet but I imagine I'll like both.

Snacks should really let the board pick the headliners some year. We'd end up with Something like The Cure, The Knife opening for Portishead, Primus, and whatever EDM band Pea could book with the remaining money.

I think it would be a complete waste of a headliner slot, almost as bad as Ben Harper or Kings of Leon. I'd be headed back to the campground early that day if there wasn't anything going on at other stages. I was going to post something about how you should expect to have a shitty headliner like that every year but the last few years have been shockingly absent of someone that bad. The closest we've come is Death Cab and they're hometown heroes so it makes more sense.
